Fury and guilt.

You were angry and ****. You could use both.

Lunging forward, you drew your sword into an aggressive strike, all power and no precision. Your instructors would have been appalled. But it **** the demon to step back, ducking under the blade with a hiss.

"You dare take my place as king? You dare call yourself my mother!? You monster!"

You hack away with abandon, swinging your sword wildly and leaving yourself wide open. Your mother takes token swipes that carve deep gauges across your skin but you're keeping her on the defensive as you scream your frustration, "Father loved you! He knew didn't he!? He knew all this time and he let you BE!"

You reduce one of the chairs to splinters, feeling a roar of power not unlike when you fought the spider woman, "Anna loved you! I LOVED YOU! AND YOU RUINED ALL OF IT BECAUSE YOU WERE BORED!?"

She seems to be slowing, movements leadened and halfhearted as your words find their mark. As she stumbles across the fallen chair so does your sword and you catch an upraised arm at the elbow, sending it flying into the darkness as you press your attack, kicking the monster down before the fire.

You pause then, sword leveled at her chest. She's staring up at you, tears streaming down her face, eyes wide and lips quivering, "I-I'm s-sorry..."

Your words are tight and whispered when you reply, "So am I."

And you drive the sword down through her chest.

Your vision is blurred and watery when you open your eyes and you have to blink several times before you can make out Tara pointing a crossbow at your chest. A long moment passes where you can't find your words and she studies you in confusion before she lowers the crossbow and kneels by your side. You grab onto her tightly, tears flowing more freely than they had since you were a child."I... did it. She's gone."
