Further into the woods

No word could describe how Gavin felt right now. He couldn't even get his mind set on what he was thinking about. His mind basically was a major battlefield, with endless armies of thoughts trying to climb on top of each other. Now he thought about sweet, beautiful Heather. Nope, now it was Chloe shutting him down... Back to heather... Zack and Victoria... More Heather... Him being a loser... Heather again... He was starting to break under the weight of the words Chloe had told him.

"At everything else you two are totally opposite."

Basically, since Heather was beautiful, intelligent, popular, sexy, funny... those were all things he wasn't. He'd never been really confident about himself, but now that was just the final blow. He now HATED himself...

Heather... Chloe... Being a loser... Zack... Heather... Loser... Heather... Fatal Tower of Doom...

That was it! Every time he ever felt bad, the one exit he had was hi games. That would calm his mind down. He stopped walking and fumbled in his pocket for his cellphone. He opened the game and when he saw which level he was on he froze.

His last line of defense had failed him... By looking at his game, he remembered that night he had spent playing with Heather. He thought about how blessed he had then felt, that their might just be the tiniest of hopes. Now he realized how foolish he had been to think that playing a cellphone video game could have given him a chance with Heather.

He looked down again at his phone, before turning it back off and putting it back in his pocket. He then sat down on a nearby rock, his eyes welling up.

"I should never have come on this trip." He thought to himself. "Chloe is probably making fun of me right now, and i just can't face Heather again."

But then, he would be stuck sleeping in the same room as her for the next two weeks. He couldn't cope with that. He had to find a way to leave. They probably wouldn't even notice he was gone: who would miss such a loser right?
