Frontier Mountains

The Frontier Mountains form the border between Dry Land and the Outback.

The Frontier Mountains came to be as a result of The Event when the landmass now known as Dry Land collided with what is now known as the Outback.

When the two landmasses collided the tectonic plates buckled and fold at the convergent boundary giving rise to what is now known as the Frontier Mountain range or the Frontier Mountains for short.

The Frontier Mountains have one well-know pass that is used by caravans plying the route between Dry Land and the Outback by the name of Frontiers Cut or The Cut for short. Furthermore, the Frontier Mountains have an unknown and uncharted number of other passes.

On either side of the Frontier Mountains mountain towns are located that lead up to The Cut.

Scholars are to this day having discussions about the snake-or-egg question what came first. Did the caravan trails give rise to the mountain town along its route or did the caravan trails start using the conveniently located mountain towns as stopover places on their route to either Dry Land or the Outback? Either way, their names are now well known to every traveller or wannabe traveller.

On the Dry Land side you have Frontiers Gate, the last town of Dry Land before entering the Frontier Mountains, and Frontiers First, the first mountain town on the Dry Land side of the Frontier Mountains. On the Outback side, you have Frontiers Pass, the first mountain town on the Outback side of the Frontier Mountains.

Frontiers First and Frontiers Pass are now fixed stopover places for the caravans plying the route between Dry Land and the Outback.

The Frontier Mountains have not stolen their name, living there is rough since a sudden drop in temperature can sentence snake people to a miserable state unable to move a single muscle, so they always have to be mindful to have warm places in reach.
