Free at last.

Taking some time to move slowly your right arm and leg, numb from the coldness of the ice, the responsible for the arrows appear out of the forest : Lady Melda got closer to you, an arrow ready on her bow, as she made sure no one would try to attack you while you recovered.

"This is bad." She says, pointing her arrow at the man who was still watching, ready to use his ice abilities. "The more time goes on, the more this guy freezeq the area, making the elementals stronger. The pyromancers needs more time to let their mana come back, and most of the warriors will not be able to fight him. I know you are not strong enough yet, but with my help, maybe we can distract him."

"Who even is he ?" You ask.

"He is known as Permafrost, an ice elemental." Lady Melda answers. "We have no idea how he got a humanoid body, but it only make him a worse target, since he is smaller and not weak to fire anymore."

As she spoke, you tried using Knowledge on Permafrost, and the ability gave you what you expected, for once :

It was like when you tried to use the ability on Shirayuki, the exact same informations appeared, and the same was unavailable. He was indeed too strong for you, but you couldn't let him change the balance of the battle just by sitting there, so you finally replied to Lady Melda.

"Okay, so we need to at least take his attention away from everything else without dying... Seems alright to me."

"You are taking this far less seriously than I thought, is it because your brain is still frozen from the ice ?" Lady Melda playfully replies.

"Could be, but for now, we have to focus on our foe."

Right when you finished your sentence, you rushed to Permafrost, your sword ready, before throwing a blow, faster than the ones you have thrown earlier, against Atsura. You knew you had to be fast, to at least keep things even between you and Permafrost, and the one thing you succeeded to do was surprise him, as he quickly created an icy dagger to parry your blow, before saying with a smirk.

"All barks, no bites, but at least you're learning."

He then repelled you with his sheer strength, but not this far, so you guessed his body wasn't all that strong, and you attacked him once more. This time, the battle was more even than when you fought Atsura, Permafrost being far weaker than him physically, and his ice being what makes him really dangerous according to Lady Melda. Everytime you started gaining an edge on him though, he would repel you, before trying to encase you in ice like he did once, but Lady Melda would take this opportunity to shoot fiery arrows at him, leading him to create ice walls to protect himself, which would quickly melt afterwards.

The more you fought Permafrost alongside Lady Melda, the more you could guess his next moves, and the easier they became to counter. Adding the advantage your sword gives you with its reach, you could hit him without him being able to answer from time to time. Glancing at your surroundings for an instant, you could see the balance of the fight changing once again, as you had Permafrost's full attention, but he took this instant to kick you in the stomach, once again repelling you, but further than any other time, before saying.

"I've had enough of this joke. Try and survive that, Adam !"

He then simply pointed at you, but the ground started shaking, before a wave of gigantic ice spikes rose from the ground from him, heading directly towards you. Seeing this, Lady Melda shot multiple fiery arrows at the ice, but to no avail. There was seemingly nothing that could affect this ice.

You turned around and began to run, seeing as the ice was aimed directly at you, but you ran right into an ice elemental, falling because of it. It seemed like this would be your end, but suddenly, everything turned black on the battlefield.

I finally made a discord server for the story ! Nothing big, but here, you'll be able to chat with me and to give story and character ideas for free (which is why I chose discord, this story is just a hobby, no need to make people spend money to chat with me).
