Any Food Left?
Food and Some Surface Level Discussion
Once again everyone was gathered in the main area, which had the living room and kitchen, the counter of which was covered in boxes from a few different places by the looks of the labels. Each had a sticky note on it that listed off things like “Goblins only” or “Humans and Hapra Safe,” June thought it made sense that they couldn’t all eat the same things. He tried to get to the counter without drawing attention to his outfit, but Anna noticed it right off the bat.
“Cute skirt, makes your legs look hotter,” she said openly checking him out while shovelling some kind of red noodle into her mouth.
“Oh it really does!” Lyric added, “I don’t think that’s one of mine, if I had known you wanted skirts I could have grabbed you a few.”
“No, it’s alright. Bailey just thought it would help make me feel more covered up.” June said raising his hands up to motion that it wasn’t a big deal, which was a mistake, Lyric took one of his hands and used it to spin him around to get a look.
“Ahhh! It’s perfect on you, June you’re made for this kinda skirt. You have to wear it more often!”
His face was red but he just gave an embarrassed smile, “I’ll think about it, for now food.”
They all chatted a little as they ate, June explained that he hadn’t known anything about magic, and had gone to bed not expecting to be pulled to another world, especially since he hadn’t fully read the letter. Tianna stressed how important her family was to magical discoveries and experimentation, it was pretty clear she thought she was better than everyone else, and Anna swiftly interrupted her to talk about how she was going to study fire magic, but was interested in “trying as many different kinds of people” as she could almost more than she was interested in learning magic. Maya talked about wanting to learn how to make potions, ever since she had learned that Branlop milk, Branlop being what her people were called, was a powerful base ingredient in potion craft she had been interested in making potions with it.
Maya also wrote out the schedule, Tianna complained she would have to get up so early, and that she only got thirty minutes to shower, but Maya calmly explained that Natalie and Krista only got thirty minutes too, and they were both getting up earlier than she was.
Eventually the topic shifted to if anyone’s magic had displayed yet, a conversation that skipped over June since he had already said he didn’t know about magic before. Maya had a few small bits of magic show up for her, but she wasn’t sure what she was naturally talented in at all. Krista said she had accidentally discovered her talent for necromancy when she tried moving a dead bear out of the road once.
With each person’s story June’s eyes got heavier, before he finally stood up and said he was gonna try and get some sleep. It started a cascade effect, mostly it sounded like everyone wanted to sleep through the night so they could get to the learning magic part in the morning. June however, was wondering if the dream was gonna end when he went to sleep.
He and Bailey went up at the same time and adjusted the bed a bit so they each had a pillow, then they stripped and turned out the lights. June slid under the covers and closed his eyes, the last thing he could see was the lilac moonlight dusting the top of the forest.
