Chapter 8 by Fiftyfiftyfifty Fiftyfiftyfifty

What do you do?

Follow her out.

The Doctor walks by a series of objects on a nearly table that she swipes up as she continues moving. You can't quite make them out, but one is a small metallic container that attaches right to her belt. Then she bends over to lift up her previously discarded lab coat. You're not sure if it's from your body being stimulated so recently or something else, but you can't help but look to the perfect contours of her ass pulled against the tight material of her dress pants. You can see the outline of her underwear, and it's quite small. Though as she stands up again, she swings the coat around her body which closes the curtains on the show.

I know it shouldn't be humiliating because only I can see it, but man it's so frustrating having a visual reminder right there. Can't I just live in blissful ignorance?

"So where are we going?" you ask, still unsure of your purpose. She may have specified you not being a weapon, but you can't help but wonder what other reason you'd have to exist.

"Away from here," she responds. "I've already paid for a crew to transport us off-planet. It's a small ship, but it'll do." Then she taps her finger against a button beside a pair of steel doors which slide open in response. Through the newly opened passed is a small room--an elevator.

You follow behind her and step inside. The doors shut tight. Then machinery begins to hum, and you feel the jolt of acceleration as the elevator begins to ascend. "What planet are we on then?"

"You actually know he answer to that already," she replies, tapping on her forehead. "Just trust yourself."

Scanning database. Ah, so we're in the Horus System, quite the distance from Earth, origin home of the humans. This is a smaller planet, where life exists within biodomes that mimic the average, most common gravitational pull, as well as conditions for life. It's called Tiddy-3... W-Wait, there's no way it's called that!

When you look to Dr. Freling, she holding back laughter with a hand over her mouth. "What's so funny?"

"S-Sorry." She snickers.

"Did you put incorrect information in my database?!"

"Only that one, I swear!" She slaps her hands together and bows her head. "It was only that one time. I did it just for the bit. No more, no more. I had to see the look on your face. Everything else is correct in there, but the planet is actually the much more boring name of Syonn. We're kinda out of the way, which is probably for the best."

"Why is that?"

"I suppose I have a lot of enemies," she says, scratching her cheek as she turns her eyes away. "And I wouldn't want anyone taking you away, Julie. I won't keep anything from you. Your creation involves a few different things others would want for themselves, and not for anyone's benefit but their own. That's why we're leaving. Because now, we start a new life."

"But what's my purpose in this new life?"

"The same as anyone else's. Finding your own way to happiness, I guess."

Bing bong. The elevator reaches its destination. After the doors slide open, you gaze forward into a stark contrast to the laboratory you just departed from. Everything is dark, and it looks like an office building that isn't been used in years. Chairs have gathered dust, there are cracks in the walls and through some of the furniture, and the corners have grown cobwebs. The doctor walks forward as if this is nothing surprising, and you follow suit.

Before you ask her anymore questions, you stop yourself from speaking and look around instead. Scanning. I have a map of the city we're in, and by using our current global coordinates, that puts us in a far neighbourhood with more than one abandoned buildings. The economy here must be doing poorly. If I had to guess, she was doing all this research far from the eyes of others, using a subterranean lab in an otherwise ignored ruin. Danger detected. I spy a number of potential explosive devices mounted throughout the area we're in, and they look professionally made.

Beep beep! The tiny ball atop your antenna lights up and you grab the doctor by her arm. "We must flee, quickly."

"Don't worry. I know." She looks down at the screen around her wrist and picks up the pace. "We're right on time, so it'll be okay. We're using the backdoor. See, I'm not completely a disaster, you know. I have my ways, and I managed to fix the city's schedule to line up properly with your awakening. Honestly, it's not that often my plans come together this well."

"I'm not sure I understand what you mean, Doctor."

"You will in a minute or so. Up there, the door. It'll lead to the alleyway behind the office building, and once we're out, just act casually. Pretend you're just an ordinary citizen out for a walk."

You nod. The two of you depart just as she said, and your ocular sensors are greeted by the bright sun above, though you can hardly see, still sandwiched between buildings. The alley itself is quite wide, though for the time being, you're busy keeping up with the doctor, who has substantially picked up the pace.

"I thought you said to act casual," you say. While you do need to breath, you're having no difficulties at all, unlike the woman ahead who's trying to catch her breath.

"Yeah, well things are a few moments ahead of where I wanted them to be, and I'd rather not die."

"Me neither!"

What do you do?
