Madeline was the person that everyone went to if they needed something. If Madeline didn't have something she could get it. She could also talk a Radroach out of a T.V. Dinner. She was the kind of person with a silver tongue. And on occasion she used that tongue for something else but...mostly she was a smooth trader.

....Madeline’s father was privy to the major gossip in the vault being a doctor and a key component to the Overseer’s staff. She heard that an expedition was to be sent out in search of another vault which might have an extra Electromagnetic Motion Refiner Array (EMRA). She just knew she had to volunteer. She had to get free.

She mentioned joining the expedition and asked her father for permission and had hoped he might help influence who went--but he immediately condemned the scheme. She could try to convince the Overseer directly and see if he could be persuaded somehow of letting her be a part of the expedition or she might try and convince Captain Ward, the current security officer and named leader of the expedition.
