Flynn Learns about the World from Shasim

Neither of us said anything for a second. We stared at eachother silently. I was nervous as hell, I didn’t know what would happen next. Shasim finally spoke up. “I’m guessing your silence is acknowledgement. Let me alleviate you fears, I am also from Earth.”

“You are?” I asked surprised.

“Yes, I was reincarnated here over 50 years ago.” He replied calmly. He slowly got up and placed his hand on my shoulder. “We have much to discuss.”

Over the next many hours Shasim and I talked about many subjects. Shasim had also been reincarnated by the same angel that reincarnated me. I finally learned that the angel’s name was Angelica. Angelica had made the same deal to Shasim as she did for me. Shasim had chosen fire magic to be his power in this world. He told me that for the first 20 years in this world he had made quite the name for himself as a fire mage, he had become very rich and powerful. However, around the time he turned 40 he fell in love and settled down with the woman of his dreams. That ended his bachelor adventurer ways. He had two children with his wife and the kids had long since moved away. He informed me his wife had died 3 years ago. I could see he was tearing up when he told me this. He changed the subject quickly by asking me about how Earth was.

Shasim hadn’t heard how Earth had progressed past the year 2007. I tried to fill him in in the latest happenings of the planet since then. Shasim specifically wanted to know if the Sacremento Kings had won an NBA championship yet. I had to give him the sad news that they hadn’t and they had been the laughing stock of the league for the last 15 years. He shook his head in disbelief when I told him this. He told me he missed basketball greatly, he tried to recreate the game here, but he could never get the basketball quite right.

Shasim had only run into 4 other people from Earth in the past 50 years he had been in the fantasy world. One of them tried to kill him, another one tried to steal his power, one he personally didn’t like, and the last one became a close friend. He hadn’t heard from the close friend in over 10 years however. Shasim told me that the friend went on a quest and had yet to come back. Shasim still hoped that one day he would see him again.

Shasim finally answered my most pressing questions about this planet that I had been dying to know. The planet’s name we were on was Jeter. The city of Fyham was in the kingdom of Lushtan. Lushtan was a loose confederacy of major cities in the area. Fyham was the third largest city in Lushtan. The capital of Lushtan was Acedran, which was also it’s largest city. There were two other major kingdoms and three minor kingdoms on the continent Lushtan found itself on. One of them, Dalaria, was actually ruled with an iron fist by someone who reincarnated from Earth named Annie. Annie was one of the four people Shasim had met from earth here. She tried to kill Shasim many years ago. Dalaria was seen from outsiders to be a totalitarian hellscape. Dalaria and Lushtan had been at war 5 years ago, but the war ended when they both signed a peace treaty 3 years ago. Since then, the entire continent had been at peace. There were other continents in the world, but seafaring technology was not advanced enough to really connect the continents together.

Shasim informed me that the general people of Jeter did not know that humans were being reincarnated here. He informed me I should keep the information that I was a Reincarney very close to my chest. He told me that the three most common races on the continent were Humans, Elves, and Orcs. Rarer were Dwarves, Reptilians, Fairies and other races. They could all breed with each tother and produce halfling offspring. He told me that his wife had been a Half-Elf.

I told Shasim my power and he was very impressed. I told him what I had done on the first day of being here and he laughed heartily. He told me I had great potential and maybe one day I could possibly rule over a kingdom. I asked him how he knew I was from Earth and he said that he knew because I was asking too many questions I should know the answer to, I looked slightly out of place, and I reminded him of himself when he was my age.

After we had been talking for hours and it was getting dark, Shasim informed me he had to get home. He promised he would be back tomorrow morning to continue our conversation. I shook his hand goodbye, and he left the small apartment.

It was around 8 o clock when he left, the night was still young and I hadn’t used any of mind control powers since I joined the mages guild 3 days ago. I put on a jacket and a pair of shoes and soon left the small apartment to explore the city.
