Carrie is smiling and seems care free. She hops in the car.

“Nick, it’s so nice to see you. I can’t believe you got a job with The Company.”

“Carrie, are you ok?”

“I’m fine. How much do you love working for The Company?”

“Carrie! I just called you to help me escape there. There’s something really wrong with that place.”

She gives you a stern expression. “Nicholas Preston Grace, The Company is amazing. You should be honored to work there. An.d, if you were a company man I’d get back together with you.”

Your jaw drops. More than anything you want to get back together with her. However, you really don’t want to back to The Company.

“Carrie, where did you go when you came in to pick me up?”

“They ushered me in with the new recruits and made me watch a video about The Company. It was so interesting I couldn’t take my eyes off it.”

The video! You didn’t watch it. It must have had some sort of subliminals.

“Nick, I could get a job there and we could work together!”

Internally you scream no. “Carrie I don’t think us being together every minute of the day would be good for our relationship.”

She makes a pouty expression. “I suppose you’re right. But, if you aren’t going back I’m going to HR tomorrow.”

You frown. You don’t think those subliminals are permanent. Still you need to stall her. You could lie and not go back. You could go back and try to figure out what they did to her.
