Flogging

Everyone is summoned to the deck.

"We caught Ishmael and Pip trying to sabotage the ship." Stubb says.

"Tie them both to the mast. Stubb and Daggio will give them twenty five lashes." Ahab says.

"Pip is just a girl." Starbuck says.

"She's eighteen. She's a not a child anymore." Ahab says.

Ishmael and Pip are both stripped from the waist up, and are tied to the mast with their wrists over their head.

They both have faint scars on their backs. Their large breasts press against the wooden mast. A wad of cloth is placed into their mouths that they bite down on.

Stubb takes a whip and moves behind Pip.

Daggio goes behind Ishmael, readying her own whip. She places Ishmael's long hair in front of her.

Outside of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Django Unchained, Starship Troopers, that Nazi episode of Star Trek, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, Sin City, Preacher, Flash Gordon, Underworld: Rise o the Lycans, that 2007 Hitman film, that 80s He-Man film, Faust: Love of the Damned and videos on the internet, I've never witnessed a flogging before.

Stubb cracks the whip over Pip's back. "Dumb nigger is always causing me trouble."

"I would ask that you not to be so racist about this." Ahab says.

Stubb shuts up and whips Pip's back again.

Pip screeches at the top of her lungs, inadvertently spitting the wad from her mouth.

I briefly see Pip's large breasts as her body reacts to the painful lash.

Daggio isn't as talkative. When she cracks the whip on Ishmael's back, it is entirely business.

Hard and fast, Ishmael and Pip are whipped. Their heads move with each lash. Their faces twist in pain.

Pip squirms, squeals and pleads for mercy. As her face turns to me, I see her tears.

The whip lands harder.

Ishmael ends up spitting the wad out, as she screams in what is probably seering pain exploding across her back.

She pleads for Ahab to abandon her pursuit. "This is madness! We'll all die!"

I want to do something, but if I try to stop Stubb and Daggio, I'll probably end up killing them.

Fedallah stands there, silently watching her prophecy come to pass.

Waves clash on the deck.

"As fates dictates, Ishmael has been flogged." Fedallah says.

Ishmael and Pip are barely able to stand.

"Twenty five, ma'am." Daggio says.

Salt water is poured down Ishmael and Pip's backs and Ishmael is untied from the mast by Queequeg, who carries her blow deck.

"Can this ship still float?" Ahab asks.

"It should be able to. They didn't get far in their sabotage. " Starbuck says. Starbuck unties Pip and takes her below deck.
