What Should He Do Next?

Fixing the World

He takes a few deep breaths, preparing himself for the next steps he would take. The first instinct was to shoot for money or fame, but those things were all irrelevant. Material goods were worthless now, at least to him, and so the changes he would make would have to be on a much larger scale. He taps his pencil on his chin, clearly in deep thought, for nearly ten minutes before finally placing a few more basic rules on the page.

New Rule: The owner of this book may summon it, along with a usable pencil, to his hand instantly.

New Rule: Nobody except the owner of this book can read the contents of this book, even if it is placed directly in front of them. To any other onlooker, the contents will appear unintelligible.

A few more safeguards never hurt. But now he was out of throwaway ideas, and he had to get down to the business of improving the world properly. A few things to start with.

Old Rule: Humanity has had a stable solar collection system which provides the entire necessary energy budget with a 5000% surplus since the year 2019.

2019 seemed like a solid year for it. Wouldn't have to worry about any ridiculous changes in the span of 2 years, even with unlimited solar power, humans could only do so much. A few more taps on his chin and he starts again.

New Rule: Rules placed into this book may not make genetic changes to humans as a species, and any genetic changes to be made to humans must be done on a person-by-person basis.

There, that should stop any unforeseen mutations from the next few rules.

New Rule: All humans on Earth currently afflicted with a disease are cured.

New Rule: All humans are immune to every possible disease, and will not suffer symptoms of any immune reactions.

Okay, looking good so far. That's the energy crisis and disease taken care of. He considers, for a moment, eliminating hunger and poverty, but the ramifications of that could be a bit bothersome down the line. Now, though, having eliminated some of the biggest problems mankind had ever faced, and all in the time it took to drink a coffee, he sits back in this chair, imagining some of the more interesting changes he could make...

What's the Next Move?
