Chapter 4 by Wingd Knight Wingd Knight

What if Peter Parker had Spidernosis?

First starting out-- Non-canon verse

Finding out that you have superpowers is pretty freaking awesome but after the obligatory 'honeymoon' period ends a smart person- and Peter Parker was incredibly smart, no one denied that in the slightest- begins to wonder just what they can do beyond the more extravagant things like climb walls or deadlift a truck. Thankfully for Peter, he knew his powers were based around spiders so he even had a good starting point for his research and experimentation into his newfound abilities.

Some traits manifested as pretty parallel powers, the strongest spider was capable of lifting about 170X their own weight, so Peter should be able to lift about 10ish tons, a number that would increase as he aged and gained muscle mass and might also increase if he still got the typical human boost from adrenalin while the fastest could move a little over 5X their body length in a second, meaning at 5' 7" Peter could move almost 200 miles per hour, a number that would also be increasing in the coming years.

Other traits manifested in more... roundabout ways. Heightened sensitivity to air pressure and electrons manifested into some kind of omnidirectional danger sense and enhanced awareness of his surroundings, eight eyes thankfully manifested as his two already present eyes not only losing their defects so he no longer needed glasses, but also improving to the point where he could see across a broader range of the electromagnetic spectrum than normal humans along with having vastly improved far sight and ability to pick out details. His wall-crawling didn't come from micro hairs like normal spiders but instead showed itself more closely to a lizard's own ability to scale up vertical surfaces by attracting and charging electrons near his skin on command.

He didn't know how the venom and silk spinning traits were manifesting, or if they even were, not because he didn't have any ideas to test for any manifestations, but because he got... sidetracked. In his research into the characteristics of arachnids, he found out, much to his shock and hidden guilty glee, that the males of some species of spiders had ways of actually hypnotizing their mates using dances, eye contact, or even pheromones! If he was lucky enough to have gotten that kind of power...

But how to test if he did? Who would he use as his... research partner?

Who does Peter decide to test his potential power on?
