First Date.

“How was it?” Daniella bombarded her sister with questions as soon as she opened the from door. It was Saturday evening and Bella arrived for family dinner.

“It was amazing!” Bella answered shuffling in the front door of her sisters house.

“Hey aunty” Leo and Diego muttered as they hurried passed, not wanting to hear details of their mothers date the night before.

“I wanna know everything.” Dani said as Bella followed her into the kitchen, where her mother was already cooking dinner.

“Isabella! How did it go?” Maria, Bella’s mother, said immediately as she noticed her daughters arrival.

“It was great, mama!” She answered, giving her a peck on the cheek.

“Yeah, yeah, yeah. It was great… Details, now!”

“All right so he picked me up in this gorgeous car…”

“Who is it?” Diego answered the intercom.

“Hey, it’s Chris.” He answered back.

There was a pause and a slight sound of shuffling, “Hey Chris!” Bella’s voice came over the intercom, “I’ll be down in a second.”

Bella emerged from the small apartment complex looking immaculate. She wore a short sleeve white dress that hugged her slender body and had her hair beautifully teased around her shoulders.

“Hey!” Chris greeted her and kissed her on the cheek, “You look amazing!”

“Thanks” Her eyes sparkled. “You don’t look so bad yourself.”

Chris just laughed in response, he wore a fitting white dress shirt with a few buttons left open at the neck and slim black trousers.

“That’s me parked over there.”

“That is a really nice car…” She said admiring the luxurious black Mercedes four-door coupe parked across the street.

“Thanks!”

“Are you just renting it?” She asked, knowing that his plan wasn’t to stay in America forever.

“Oh no I bought it.” Chris smiled, opening the passenger door for Bella to climb in.

“He just… bought it?” Maria said exasperated.

“Yeah… I know right?” Bella replied.

Dani and Maria both paused as they considered how wealthy Chris actually was. “So where did he take you?”

“To this cute little French restaurant…”

“Whitman over Wordsworth? You’re out of your mind!” Chris laughed scorning Bella’s taste.

“No, you’re crazy!” Bella laughed along.

Bella’s subject in school was English and the two had formed a bond over literature and poetry. Suddenly the waiter approached holding the bottle of wine they had ordered, he filled their glasses with the Chardonnay and left.

“Cheers” They both said clinking their glasses, and each taking a sip.

The restaurant was small yet elegant with crisp white linens dressing the tables, exposed brick walls and warm dimmed lighting.

“That’s delicious” Bella said quietly, taking another sip of wine. “Have you been to France?” she asked.

“No, I’d love to though. You?”

“No… I could never afford it. I’ve only ever been to Mexico to visit family.”

“Oh I haven’t been to Mexico yet, I’d love to go there too.”

The waiter returned a few minutes later.

“Are you ready to order?” He said in a thick French accent.

“Maybe he could whisk you away to France on vacation.” Maria mused.

“It was only our first date Mom!” Bella laughed.

“So what happened next?” Dani asked.

“Well dinner was delicious… We talked… I don’t know… It was just really nice.” Bella smiled as she reminisced of the night before.

“Well, what did you talk about?”

“Did you kiss him?”

“Did he pay the bill?”

“Did you sleep with him?” The pair throughly assaulted her with questions.

“Dani! No, I didn’t sleep with him! We talked about… just stuff… He’s really well read and he’s a good listener you know? And yes he payed the bill, even though I offered to split it.” Bella recapped.

“But… Did you kiss him?” Daniella asked.

Bella sported a sheepish smile. “Yes… He walked me to the door and kissed me goodnight."
