Chapter 1779 by Fiftyfiftyfifty Fiftyfiftyfifty

You hold the Bag of Holding upside down, and Bekram the dwarf watches with curiosity. All you've told him so far is that you found some interesting things in the domain of the so-called Dungeon Master. He seems excited, though it's probably from the tale alone. He loves stories of derring-do. Even if he wasn't there himself, he lives it vicariously through you as you offer a brief summary.

"What's going on over here?" a voice comes from your right. It's Thomas, walking alongside Koblix the goblin.

"I heard something about a dungeon," adds Koblix. "Sound scary. The others were talking about how you faced another Dungeon Lord. You know, Kyle, more people don't run into a single one of those, and if they do, they die."

"And you defeated two of them!" Tom shouts. He claps his hands. "I'm not gonna pretend I could have done the same. This is why you're the king, Kyle. It's why we follow you. I mean, not because you're powerful. Because you make the impossible happen."

"Speaking of deadly adventure, take a look at what we found," you say. Then without further ado, you reach up inside, grab hold of a piece of dwarven treasure, and pull it slowly through and out the enchanted bag's entrance. Plates. Goblets. Ceremonial weapons and armour. It takes awhile to retrieve it all, but you place every single one of them down onto the grass, not far from where the training dummies are set up. As you do, the guys watch in awe.

Especially Bek. "Wh-What is all this?!" he yells out with hands to the side of his head. "There must have been an old dwarven ruin where the Dungeon Lord took over. This shit looks ancient!"

"You've been a valuable member of our team, Master Dwarf. So I offer you a gift. Take whatever you want from this haul, and we'll place the rest in our treasury to be traded."

"No fucking way. Oh I love you, Kyle!" The dwarf runs up and wraps his burly arms around your midsection for a mighty hug. "I don't know where to start."

"Take your time."

Koblix rubs his bald head. "The coin we could make from all this... Well, Castle Phoenix's economy just got a massive boost, especially with all the new traders I've been seeing."

As Bek rummages through the pile of relics, you turn to the others and shove your entire arm deep into the Bag of Holding. You feel around inside, and then grab hold of a small garment stored within. You withdraw it, and reveal it to the others to be a cloak barely big enough for a child. When described as small, it isn't to mean this could fit somebody like Eva, or not in a way that would cover her at all. And such much as she'd enjoy that, this article of clothing is either meant for a kid, or a creature no taller than a gnome. It's stark white, almost as if it has no texture whatsoever.

You kneel down before the goblin and present it to him. "I want to get at least one gift for everybody here. Koblix, you've been an ally for a long time."

"O-Oh I don't do much. I just sneak around," he stutters out, flustered.

"Well now you'll do it better. Take the gift. Your king commands it."

Gift #6 Delivered! - Cloak of Camouflage

He wraps it around himself, pulling the hood over his head and concealing almost his entire body in the garment's white cloth. But then a moment after, it transforms. The pattern shifts and twists in an instant to match his surroundings. It's now coloured a blur of greens and browns as it tries to mimic the ground at his feet. He doesn't turn invisible, but it's even more effective than the shopkeep made it sound.

It was also on discount because it couldn't fit anybody who was interested in buying.

Koblix looks over himself in awe. "This is so cool! I've never owned anything like it before."

"This!" Bekram shouts at the top of his lungs.

Everyone turns to see the dwarf holding a maul up over his head.

While the shape is gorgeous, it looks as if it's about to fall apart. At least, it does at first. You watch as Bek wipes layers of hardened dirt off the weapon, and after a moment, you catch a glimpse of shine beneath the filth. He grins.

You lean in curiously. "It's--"

"Yep," says Bek. "For the metal to not have rusted in all that time... I mean, dwarven arms and armour are built to last, but under all this crap, it looks so pristine that it can only mean one thing. This is a magic weapon!"

Gift #7 Delivered! - Unidentified Dwarven Maul

"If you give me a hand carrying all these things to the vault, I'll let you take something else."

"No need. This is all I want. But I'll help you carry it either way."

Tom watches intently. You can tell, especially by your Kitty Sense, that he's anxiously waiting to see if a gift is in store for him. He just doesn't want to ask out loud.

You give him a smirk. "Don't worry. I found something you might like too. I hope it'll do."

"Oh you didn't have to get me anything!" Tom exclaims. "But uh... what is it?"

"My gift for you is also a gift for Vodrani, and it'll be waiting for you tonight. Enjoy."

"... W-What does that mean?"

"You'll find out I guess."

"Kyle, you have to tell me what that means."

"No I don't."

"I--"

"But never fear. I did also find a neat weapon I thought you'd like to have. It doesn't do anything special, but the craftsmanship is damn beautiful, in my opinion anyway." Then you shove your hang back into the bag, and pull out a masterfully crafted bow.

His eyes widen as it's placed into his hands. He feels his hands up the dark wood, carved with intricate patterns of vines and leaves. The limbs are partly fanned like the wings of a falcon, and the grip is made from a special, light-weight steel alloy that has yet to be touched since last polished. He tests the string, brings it up to his eye, and finally lets out an extended sigh. "Kyle. I don't know what to say."

Gift #8 Delivered! - Masterwork Bow

"When you land your next shot, you can do it in my name."

Tom laughs. "Will do." But then he swallows hard. "So what was that about Vodrani?"
