Chapter 6
How does the streak to Mazu's museum go?
Fine at first, but then...
"I can’t believe that this is the second time we ended up on a date where we have to streak the city to get my powers back." Lucy said in disbelief as the four made their way towards the entrance to the beach, Kyle covering up his junk as the three women covered themselves up.
"I'm really sorry about this, guys." Uriel apologized again, "I didn't know my sword would destroy our stuff before -"
"Hey, it's not your fault." Lucy said, "None of us knew that Grant and Roxie got out, so we had no way of knowing we were going to lose our powers."
"Hey, I just thought of something." Levi said as they hid by a dune, "Can't we just call someone to pick us up and drive us to Mazu's place?"
"And I suppose you have a cellphone on you?" Lucy asked rhetorically, "Or a quarter for a payphone?"
"Hey! I was the only one who brought my phone before it got melted down! What's your excuse?!"
"Ladies, you're both beautiful!" Kyle said, "But right now, let's focus on getting to Mazu's museum so we can put an end to this, okay?"
"No, you're right, Kyle. The sooner we -" Lucy began before trailing off, holding out her arm to stop the other three as they reached the parking lot. "Hold up! We have a slight problem..."
"So you two are telling me you can turn a van into some kind of Tardis knockoff, but you actually need the keys to get inside?!" Grant snapped in disbelief as he, Roxie, and Amelia watched as Trish tried to break into the van.
"Alroight, so dere were a few design flaws, Oi'll admit dat." Trish grunted as the drift wood she was holding snapped in half. Tossing the broken hunk of wood to the side, she added, "But we've still got da Devil roight where we want 'er! She's trapped on da beach, with 'er friends, and -"
"'Trapped'?!" Roxie interrupted, "Oh no, no, no! We know what she's capable of, and that Bitch of Hell is not gonna stay in one place. If she knows how to get her powers back she's gonna leave and take the others with her to preform -"
"That shouldn't be the case here, Ms. Sinclair." Amelia replied. "It is common knowledge in our branch of the organization that when a demon of The Devil's caliber loses her power, they have to go through a ritual that involves all the other demon lords at full power. And with Leviathan, another demon lord, without power as well, she's a... How do you Americans word it again? 'A statuesque swan'?"
"Oi'm pretty sure it's 'A standin' goose', Ames." Trish replied.
"It's 'A sitting duck'." Grant corrected.
"Yes, silly me..."
"Nah! Dat don't sound roight."
"How the hell would they know about that?!" Levi hissed.
"Must do they're homework across the pond." Lucy replied with a shrug. "Either way, let's just get past them quickly before they notice us."
Not needing to be told twice, the four made their way across the parking lot towards the entrance as their bare feet made contact with the asphalt. Noticing her fiancée lagging behind, Levi momentarily stopped to allow Uriel to piggyback her as the angel kept an eye of the still arguing demon hunters.
Once at the exit, Kyle and Lucy turned to see Levi sitting Uriel back down on her feet, giving The Demon Lord of Envy a strange look.
"What?! She's got sensitive feet from walking up on clouds most of the time!"
"Look!" Trish said, putting a stop to the argument. "Even if yew're roight and Da Devil ain't stayin' put, 'ow we goin' know where she's goin'?"
"That... I don’t know." Roxie admitted.
"And judging by the tracks in the sand that I'm only seeing now, that ship has sailed already." Grant groaned in annoyance, causing the three women to finally notice the footprints as well. "We're going to have to go after them."
"Go after them?" Amelia asked, her cheeks going pink. "Without our weapons or... Or our trousers?"
"Oi ain't flashin' my Teletubbies knickers to da entire world, Maoite!" Trish spat.
"We were in much less on our hunt." Grant replied with an annoyed frown. "And do you two see any other options right now?"
"I'm afraid he does have a point, Patricia." Amelia said with a sigh.
"... Fuck!" Trish groaned, shaking her head with a sigh. "At least we'll 'ave two demons and a bleedin' angel on our mantles."
"Uh, no!" Roxie said, "We touch that angel, we kiss our asses goodbye."
"Not quite." Trish said with a smug grin. "Oi just spoke with our organization's leader and, under a certain loophole in da rules, angels can be 'unted assumin' dey attack first; which renders dem as rogue."
"Quite insightful, my dear sister," Amelia said, "but need I remind you that we were the aggressors in this scenario?"
"What Da Organization doesn't know, won't 'urt dem." Trish replied with a smirk, the four making their way towards the exit of the parking lot. "Nor kill us. 'Owever, dis still leaves us the problem of findin' weapons to take dem out."
"Yeah, not really sure where..." Kyle trailed off as he saw a flier for a Renaissance fair attached to a telephone pole, an evil smirk coming to his face. "I think I know how to fix that problem."
Back with Lucy, Kyle, Levi, and Uriel, the four were streaking down the street as a few cars drove by and honked, a few pedestrians merely blinking in surprise. Others, on the other hand...
"Yeah! You go girls!"
"Dude, I think I've gone to heaven!"
"Hey, Cutie! Why don't you show us your little friend?! You're hands aren't doing much!"
"No decency today, I swear!"
"This is so embarrassing!" Uriel muttered.
"Welcome to our life!" Lucy replied over her shoulder. "We may have avoided this with Terpischord's little show all those months ago, but we are certainly wiping all mortal minds of this!"
The four dove into an alleyway and hid behind a dumpster, trying to catch their breaths.
"Okay," Kyle began, "is there like a shortcut we can take to make this easier on us?"
"Well, yes and no." Lucy replied, "We can get to The Oceanic Museum quicker if we go in a straight line, but we'd be having to cut through the fairgrounds, the south side of the zoo again, and the football stadium."
"Well, at least three places to streak through are better than seven." Kyle said with a sigh. Looking up, he noticed a flier posted on the wall of the alleyway and frowned. "And of course there would be a Renaissance fair at the fairgrounds today!"
"Wha-?" Lucy asked as she and the others looked up to see that same flier, The Devil blushing as she sighed. "Right. This couldn't be easy on us for -"
"Wait a second!" Levi exclaimed as she pulled the flier off the wall and looked it over. More specifically, staring intently at the picture of the brunette sorceress as a gasp of recognition escaped her lips. "Lucy! It's Morgan!"
Lucy's eyes went wide as she looked over the flier again. "Dear Dad! It is!"
"Morgan? That Irish woman we met at Mammon's casino?" Kyle asked in confusion.
"No, that was Morrigan." Lucy replied, "This is Morgan. Y'know, Morgan le Faye?"
"Oh, yeah." Kyle said sheepishly, "Guess I'm not exactly there right now. She can help us, right?"
"Hopefully..."
"So that means she can remove your crucifixes and my sigil! Meaning we don't have to go see Mazu for help." Uriel said, Kyle not missing the odd tone of relief in her voice. "She is one of the most powerful magic users after all."
"Uh..." Lucy stammered, rubbing the back of her neck. "Not exactly, Uri. Morgan is still powerful, but she's gotten pretty rusty with healing magic and counter spells since her son killed Arthur."
"Yeah, I once went to her to help me fix a cavity, and she accidentally turned me into a goldfish." Levi commented. Shrugging, she added, "I mean, I was able to turn myself back to normal, but still."
"Oh..." Uriel muttered, Kyle not missing the mixture of disappointment and nervousness in the archangel's voice.
If he didn’t know Uriel any better, and he admittedly only knew the archangel for a few months now, he could've sworn that she was hiding something.
"Don't worry, Babe." Levi said as she placed a hand on her fiancée's shoulder, "She'll still might be able to teleport us to Mazu's if we're lucky."
"Oh, that's... great."
"Well then, it's settled." Lucy said as the four headed off down the alleyway, "First stop, the fairgrounds."
The four left the alleyway and crossed the street, streaking past an Indian woman and her dog as they came to the fence that surrounded the fairgrounds and began to climb over it. The woman and dog only blinked and stared in confusion.
"This is fuckin' humiliatin'..." Trish groaned as she and the others used their hands to cover their underwear, doing their best to ignore the voices of the pedestrians as they walked by.
"Ha! Nices undies, Ladies! You two still go shopping in the kid's section?"
"Hey baby! Wanna tell me what you want, what you really, really want?!"
"Ooh! I love the boxers, Sweetheart! I wanna see what's underneath!"
"Back off, bitch!" Roxie roared at that last one, clinging to Grant defensively.
"Okay..." Grant said as he led the others down the same alleyway that Lucy and the others went down. "We just have to get to the renaissance fair, grab some weapons, and then hunt down that Devil again."
"Oi noticed dat 'Get some trousers' wasn't in dat list, Maite." Trish said with annoyance.
"We can worry about pants later!" Roxie spat as she and the others left the alleyway, the American woman rudely pushing past the woman with her dog. "Right now, we -" Roxie's eyes went wide as she saw Uriel's naked ass climb over a fence across the street, "There they are! They're heading towards the fairgrounds!"
"Well, looks like they went and made this easy for us after all." Amelia commented with an evil grin.
"Yeah, let's hope so." Grant griped as the four raced across the street.
All except Trish who stopped when she heard a stifled giggling noise, looking over her shoulder to see the woman staring at the British demon hunter's panties.
"Got a problem, yew fuckin', bleedin' Yankee?!" Trish spat as she reached out and shoved the woman back into a puddle of dirty water as the dog growled and barked loudly. Trish then turned and ran after her sister and the two American demon hunters...
Not noticing the menacing scowl on the woman's face as she got to her feet.
"So, that woman thinks that she can just knock over and insult Jyestha and get away with it, does she." The woman, Jyestha, growled as she glared the four down. "And if those four are after The Devil, then there's only one thing they can possibly be."
The dog merely growled before looking up at his master.
"Well then," Jyestha said with a wicked grin as she waved a hand at the four before walking away, "let's see how they deal with a little misfortune on their hunt..."
How do things go at the renaissance fair? Is Morgan any help?
