Chapter 1294 by Fiftyfiftyfifty Fiftyfiftyfifty

What do you do?

Find the others.

Most of the Castle Phoenix are already out and helping clean up the destruction and devastation caused by Lord Vraelion's invasion. The wall is cracked and/or broken in a couple different locations, though nothing that can't be fixed, though a house or two definitely need to be completely rebuilt. Thankfully, the corpses have already been moved outside if the castle walls and burned in a massive pyre. Their equipment, however, was first retrieved if it was deemed usable.

The first person you meet eyes with is Mistress Dajy. She brings an entirely different energy this morning. Not only that, but there's something physically different about her as well. Of course, it's her horn! She stands tall and proud, now with two long, curled horns protruding out from her head. The one that was previously broken has been secured by thin metal plates bolting it in place.

As soon as she sees you, she beams with delight. "I'm like a whole new woman~!" she says with a hand stroking along the mended horn. It may not look the same as it once did, but it doesn't seem to bother her at all. "I believe it looks better," she adds. "Don't you think so?"

"I do. But would my Mend spell help?" you ask.

"No I don't believe it would. This is a part of my body. You couldn't properly mend it with a spell such as that, anymore than you could reattach an arm. This is fine. In fact, I think it looks quite cool. Laira, Fava, and Meli both aided me, and the latter explained that it may no longer need the brace in time."

Wham! You swear you can feel the ground tremble beneath the impact of Niki's mighty leap. She lands nearby, almost from nowhere, and stares at you with a terrifying excitement in her wide, ruby eyes. She grins ear to ear, and slams her mace hard against the magic shield donned in her other hand.

"Woah. What's up, Niki? Did Dixby trick you into drinking something funny?" you ask.

"No! I levelled up. I'm 10th level at last, Kyle. Do you know what that means?"

Full Name is Niki of clan Vakila.
Race is sunheart.
Homeland is Althudiyu in the Oraang Desert.
Hair Colour is black.
Favourite Colour is silver.
GOA Class is Stormwall - Level 10 (Elite Class of Warrior).
Speciality is superhuman durability and strength.
Unique Features are Rite of the Sun markings.

Rite of the Sun
While the specifics are unknown to you, sunhearts are capable of undergoing a sacred ritual of which grants them both a curse and a boon. Where they receive the mark becomes their weak spot, but they're also given an exceptional power in return. Of course, Niki actually has two of these, which means she has physical strength and durability beyond what any other sunheart is capable of having.

Stormwall
This elite class of warrior is focused entirely around defense. They gain a minor amount of mana manipulation to bolster their defenses even further as well as protect their allies. This paired with Niki's Rite of the Sun markings may have created a woman who is nearly unbreakable.

"I'll never let any of you fall," she declares.

"We've been adventuring together for what feels like ages now, Niki," you say. "You might be wild and reckless, but I believe you when you say that. You run in first because you'd rather all the danger fall upon you and not those you care about. Just remember that we care about you too."

"Aw shucks." She nervously scratches the back of her neck with the shaft of her mace. "I just do my best."

"We are ever grateful," says Amara from behind. She bows with a soft smile upon her lips. Somehow, she feels different as well. Just like with Niki, she has a different presence about her, which makes sense given that she was previously the same level as the other. That means...

"I levelled up as well," she adds. "I am now one step closer to becoming the kind of woman I aspire to be. One just like my mother."

"All right!" Niki takes the elf by the shoulder with her shield and pulls her in close.

"Let me guess. An archpriest then, right?" you ask.

Full Name is Amara Tedrilui.
Race is elf.
Homeland is somewhere in the Empire of Tivera.
Hair Colour is blond.
Favourite Colour is pink.
GOA Class is Archpriest - Level 10 (Elite Class of Cleric).
Speciality is healing magic, support magic, and potent spells.
Unique Features is Mana Mutation.

Mana Mutation
On rare occasions, the circuit within someone's body that dictates the flow of their mana develops with abnormities. Think of it as a string with a tied knot somewhere along the way. This mutation can actually be cured, however, some choose to keep it despite the discomfort it can cause because it causes the caster's spells to come out more powerful if used correctly. Amara's knot is tied right between her legs.

Archpriest
This elite class of cleric is base around healing and supportive spells. Nobody else can heal as effectively as an archpriest. They still do as other clerics may, such as vanquishing undead, though their spells focus mostly on support.

"If Niki is making certain that nobody falls by getting in the way," Amara explains, "Then I will make certain nobody falls by way of magic. If you are able to protect me, I will restore your stamina time and time again. I will never let you down!"

"I don't think Kyle needs much help in getting back up many times over," Dajy comments.

"I--" Amara purses her lips and blushes slightly. She idly scratches the tip of her finger against the choker she wears, which she was able to retrieve after everything had ended. However, you're not certain where they key has gone.

You look her over. "Hey, Amara. Do you know where the uh... You know, the key went?" you ask, pointing at your neck as you try and explain.

"Oh!" Amara reaches into one of the tiny pouches around her waist and pulls it out. "Here you go," she says quietly, placing it into your hand.

"How romantic," Dajy says.

I'm a little worried about Eva though. Unlike these two, she had no idea what to take. Then she found out she wasn't even fully a bunnyfolk. Maybe I should find her. She might be feeling a little self-conscious. Maybe that's why she isn't--

"Born of a rainbow, imbued with magic beyond any other," comes a voice from afar. "They say she's the most beautiful and elegant sorceress who has ever lived. Eva Beela, the wonderful. Eva Beela, the archmage. Eva Beela, the magic eater!" Everybody turns to see the bunnyfolk standing dramatically nearby with her pink-tipped wand thrust forwards. She spins--her small, dark blue cape rising in the breeze. Then with a coy smile, she sheathes the focus back into her belt. "I finally did it, Kyle! I reached 10th level!"

"... Eva. I--" You step closer. "Are you sure you're all right?"

Niki scratches her head. "She reminds me of that Kashura girl."

"Yeah. I think I am." She makes her way over to the group and smiles nervously. For a moment, she pauses, staring off into the distance before taking a deep breath through her nose. "I've been doing a lot of thinking. What do I specialize in? What do I even like doing? What even am I? It's been hard. It really has. When I see you guys, you seem so sure of yourselves. You know what you want to be, and what your goals are. I've just been that noble girl who didn't wanna be a noble, and has ever since just been rebellion over who I am, even though I don't even have an answer. Like a... Well, like a kid!"

"Oh darling. Don't worry. Nobody thought you were a kid," Mistress Dajy says.

"Yeah," Niki responds. "Kids don't have boobs that big."

"I'm trying to have a tender moment!" Eva shouts back. She crosses her arms and grumbles. "I'm trying to say that I've accepted who I am. I've also accepted that it's fine to not to have some specific goal. Anyway, I know what I want, and that's to not fall behind the rest, and to keep everybody safe. I want to live happily with those I love."

"What did you end up deciding to specialize in then, Eva?" Amara asks.

Eva thrusts her finger forwards. "I've chosen... Universalist!"

Everybody stares in silence for a moment, though you haven't a clue what that means.

"Ah. I see." Dajy scratches her cheek. "So you decided that your specialization should be no specialization at all."

"I don't know what a universalist is," you mutter.

Amara turns her eyes to you. "A universalist is a type of mage who does not focus on any specific type of magic. It is often mocked among mages, as it is not all that powerful. I have never met one myself, so I am uncertain how strong they can truly be."

Full Name is Eva Beela.
Race is bunnyfolk.
Homeland is Tolis in the Empire of Tivera.
Hair Colour is pale lavender.
Favourite Colours are purple and blue.
GOA Class is Universalist - 10th Level (Elite Class of Mage)
Speciality is nothing?
Unique Feature is Magic Eater.

Magic Eater
In the past, a race known as the stel'ae, or magic eaters, were almost entirely wiped out. Eva's mother, however, was one of these people, meaning that the blood which runs through Eva's veins may be one of the final remnants of a thought-to-be extinct species. She has the power to effectively suck the magic out of things, and in some instances, even utilize that magic herself. It reminds you of your signet ring.

Niki laughs and wrestles the bunnyfolk in for a hug. "I don't know nothing about mages, but that sounds fine to me!"

"Oh yes. Especially given her unique physiology, I think Eva will make a lovely universalist," Amara says.

"That's right I will!" Eva exclaims proudly.

"Well, guys. I didn't level, but I did grow stronger. Here, I'll tell you all I know about my weird-ass body," you say. "Gotta pass the time somehow while we clean up this whole mess. Damn that Lord Vraelion. If he were here right now, I'd make him do it."

What do you do?
