File #1 Ending 7 - The world hasn't changed

Nobody knew exactly what happened in Owl city, or what happened to it.

All connections to the city were cut at the end of 2009. Whoever tried to go there would be stopped by U.S. soldiers blocking the road. Conspiracy theories about alien invasions, secret weapon test fields were flying everywhere, but nothing was solid.

The funeral of a priest named Brandon was held in Vatican a few months later and many celebrities around the world went there to pay their respect. Some other people knew that Priest Brandon was in Owl city at that time, but only a few of them put two and two together and came up with more theories. And again, nothing was solid.

People celebrated the coming of 2010 as usual. To most of them, the world hasn't changed for one bit.

"Happy New Year, buddies!" A tall guy in a bar near the railway station of Raven Harbour toasted. Many people cheered and joined him.

A strange man was sitting at the end of the counter, sleeping. He was wearing a black raincoat and covering his head with its hood. He came here alone a few hours ago, ordered the best liquor, got drunk and collapsed. After several minute he would wake up to drink another shot, and collapse again. The cycle has been continuing for the whole night.

"Hey! Come on, bro, don't waste time on sleeping!" The tall guy patted the raincoat man's shoulder. He pushed a glass of beer in front of the raincoat man and laughed, "Here! Happy New Year!"

The tall guy emptied the glass, but the raincoat man didn't move a bit.

"Your loss, man!" The tall guy grabbed the other glass and emptied it too, "Now, I'm gonna ask that blonde bartender out..."

The moment the tall guy stood up, the raincoat man raised his head and searched for that said bartender. He found her in a few seconds, stared at her for a while, and slowly collapsed again.

People in the bar celebrated the new year as usual. To most of them, the world hasn't changed for one bit.

But to some, the world was just a hopeless hell.
