Fight

You slowly feel along the table with your right hand until you find a small porcelain bottle still half-full of sake. You whip it sidearm at the closest guard. The bottle soars across the room and smashes into the face of the first man, shattering into pieces. You are only a second behind the bottle, leaping up onto the table and rushing across it. While his compatriot is reeling, the other guard reacts quickly, to your frustration. Instead of going for the katana that is so prominently displayed, his hand dives inside his jacket and he pulls out a pistol. You leap off the table before he can fire at you and keep the man you hit with that sake bottle between you and the armed guard.

That man is groping for his katana and whips it out wildly when you get close. You see that he has one eye closed and blood is seeping out of it. The other is squinting and blinking rapidly, likely because of the sake. The guard swings again. You duck forward and under it then pop up and seize his wrist with both hands. A quick twist dislocates it and the katana falls out of his grasp. You catch it before it hits the ground and then slam it two-handed into the man’s ribs. It doesn’t cut in nearly as far as you’d hoped it would. You don’t even think it is a fatal blow. Backing up your thesis, the man grasps the blade with his bare hands, securing it against his ribs. You hear Yoshida roar, “Shoot her now!”

You asshole! The second guard starts unloading his pistol despite the fact that the first man is still interposed between you. The guard jerks with the hits but they aren’t penetrating yet. You try to push him back toward the guard that is firing but you lack the strength in this current body. Shit, shit, shit! You let go of the sword and get in closer to the first guard. He slumps forward on you and you barely manage to hold him up. His body is still jerking with the impacts of the bullets. You quickly locate the pistol inside of his jacket. It is a Beretta 999, a classic coilgun that you’re quite familiar with.

With a massive effort, you manage to shift the dead or dying man on top of you enough to free up the hand that holds the Beretta. You start firing blindly in the direction of the second man. You are rewarded with a grunt of pain and the sound of him falling to the floor. You twist away from the corpse on top of you and let that fall as well. You brush your hair out of your face and check the second guard and see that he is face down and unmoving.

You turn and see the Yoshida is still sitting where he was. His face is a stony mask. Satsuki is in the corner, trembling and in a fetal position. Now what to do? There is no way that the rest of Yoshida’s crew hadn’t heard the firing. Ishikawa was gathering the necessary information to bring down Yoshida but his hopes of doing that took a huge it if you let Yoshida walk. You mind flashes back to the primers you read on Yoshida coming in. He was considered scum even by many Yakuza because he was involved in both the **** and organ trafficking markets. In fact, he’d come under the CIA’s purview precisely because he’d been smuggling organs to some of the United States’ colonies.
