It is dark outside but still pretty warm. Your feet hurt as they slap the stone walkway but you keep running full out. If the three other yakuza catch up to you, you’ll wind up in a shootout with very little cover. You bring up the screen on your minicomp as your run and summon an auto-taxi. It swoops down out of the sky just as you reach the end of the artificial island.

The taxi’s sensors sweep over you as you approach and a pleasant voice states, “Sensors show you are in possession of an illegal weapon. The police are being contacted. Please remain calm and cooperate.”

God damn it. “Override code charlie india alfa,” you say quickly. “Passcode ‘if you want to keep a secret, you must also hide it from yourself.’" You hear shouts behind you and know the yakuza members are coming.

“Confirmed. Alert canceled.” The door opens and you dive inside. “Where to?” The taxi asks with infuriating patience.

“Safehouse Plum Blossom!” you shout. The three yakuza have caught up and are starting to fire at the taxi.

“Contacting police. Remain calm.”

“Negative! Cancel!” The last thing you need is the local cops screwing things up. “Go to the safehouse. Override speed limits and traffic laws.”

“Acknowledged.” The taxi rockets off so fast that you slam back into your seat.

“Warn me if any cars seem to be following us.” The taxi confirms your command but you don’t really think anybody will. The yakuza won’t be able to get a taxi to ignore the law and they couldn’t follow in their own car unless they didn’t want to head back to Yoshida’s penthouse. They probably came in two cars though. Still you were banking on Yoshida being more concerned with getting back home than catching you.

That seems to be the case as you reach the safehouse without incident. It is a crummy apartment in a building one step above the bedrock. You step out of the taxi and command it to spend the rest of the night ignoring customers and flying around randomly in case it is being tracked. Then you enter the safehouse.
