Fight

"I'll only ask once more, Dryads. Open the door!" Mark shouts, the soldiers at his side. I sigh and step forward. I blink between him and Layla. Layla has her staff out and has made it take a sword form. She's stepped in front of Treena. Mark looks at me shocked before sighing and glaring at me. "Eric, I need you to step aside."

"Layla, put your staff away." I whisper to her, causing her to gasp, shocked.

"What, why!?" She angrily whispers, just loud enough for Mark and the others to hear.

"Just trust me, okay?" I reply causing her to grunt and do as I asked. "Thank you." I say before turning back to Mark. He looks at me surprised.

"Eric, what are you up to?" Mark asks and I just smile. I clap my hands and cast Buso Kaijo. A small ring of black mist appears around my hands. It immediately shoots out around me and envelops their weapons. They all shout in pain before dropping them. Only Mark and Alex don't feel any pain. I'm a little surprised that Alex didn't drop the Magic Sealing Gem, although I guess it's not a weapon. "What did you just do?" Mark asks me, clearly angry and pissed.

"It's a powerful disarming Spell I recently got my hands on." I reply. Mark turns to Alex and nods. Alex pours his mana into the gem, activating it. A circle of blue light shoots from it, similar to the mist from Buso Kaijo. It surrounds us and the soldiers step forward.

"Burn the Dryads and Eric! We'll find some excuse for killing him later." Mark says, nearly shouting. The soldiers raise their hands and all cast a fire spell. I don't recognize it, but it looks like an arrow made of fire. I take my wings, horns, boots, and claws out. They look at me shocked before the flame arrows launch. I use my wings to block the arrows. Thanks to the damage reduction, they don't do much damage.

As soon as the arrows disappear I put my wings away. They look at me shocked and dumbfounded. I rush them and slam my fist into the first one's face.

They get knocked down and fall to the ground. I feel the metal helmet they're wearing break around my fist. The others turn to me shocked.

"Wha... How did you do that!?" Mark asks in shock and disbelief.

"I just punched ya as hard as I could. Be warned though, I have a hard time controlling my strength. I might kill you by accident." I say, causing a few of his soldiers to shiver.

"Eric, why are you stopping me?" Mark asks, causing me to sigh.

"A few reasons. Mainly because I've entered a Pact with the Dryads. But also because I just hate people who **** their power, authority, or position like you." I reply causing him to sigh.

"Eric, think this through. I have connections all over the government's Lyna branch. I could easily get you and your Guild priority on jobs or even access to unexplored Ruins. What could the Dryads hope to offer you that's even half as good as that?" Mark asks while stepping forward.

"I can think of one thing." I say with a smile. I take my phone out of my inventory. This surprises him since he assumes I used magic. I bring up the picture of Liz blushing that Layla took. I show it to him and he looks at it dumbfounded.

"Wh-this picture is something more important to you than Ruins!?" He asks in shock and disbelief.

"Yes! I'll have you know that Liz rarely blushes like this! It's only thanks to the Dryads that I have this. They took it after all." I say, loud enough for Liz to hear it.

"I TOLD YOU TO DELETE THAT!" Liz shouts back causing me to laugh.

"Eric, is there any way you'd be willing to look the other way here?" Mark asks. Something about his tone bothers me. He doesn't sound defeated, upset, or even angry. He sounds determined.

"No there isn't." I say causing him to sigh.

"Very well. I didn't want to do this." He says before whistling. The seven remaining soldiers rush me. I easily knock them down before turning to Mark. He's holding a pitch-black gem. Before I can do anything, I feel my magic return. As soon as it does, the gem glows a bright black light. The light blinds me and I raise my arms to cover my eyes. As the light fades I turn back to them. Standing in front of Mark and Alex is a large black suit of armor nearly eight feet tall. The armor is enveloped in a dark fog. The fog seeps out of the joints and holds the suit together, acting as a body. I see a pair of glowing red eyes inside the helmet.

"Be careful Eric. Mark is a master Monster Tamer but I've never seen what monster he controls." Layla says from my side. She's holding her staff out and has it in sword form. Liz is next to her holding her own staff. I turn and see Treena holding a ball of green light behind us. I make a mental note that Buso Kaijo won't work on weapons that are unequipped at the time I cast it.

"What's a Monster Tamer?" I ask, a little too loudly.

"A Monster Tamer is a School of magic. It allows someone to tame a monster. The amount we can tame depends on our abilities, but I can only tame one. This is the sole monster I have ever tamed, and no one else has ever tamed anything as strong." Mark answers proudly. I Observe the monster and tell the others what I read.

"One HP?" Layla asks confused. I forgot I never explained how my powers work to her.

"It's because it has a Core. It acts as its physical body. The armor is just that, a suit of armor the Core controls to protect itself. If we break the Core, it dies. But we have to get through that armor first." Liz says quickly causing Mark to clap.
