Fight

"W-what now?" Amelia asks Alex nervously.

He tries to think of ways to exit the ID or even contact the outside world but everything he did was blocked.

"We have ****, we'll have to fight this thing." He told her before pulling out his sword and readying himself.

"Try to kill as many demon spawns as possible to weaken the boss," Alex yells at her, trying to give her some sort of instructions to work with.

Amelia nods and does as she's told, shooting down a few more demons as fast as she can. Alex follows suit with his own attacks. After a short while, the new demons stopped appearing. The only thing that's left is the giant blob made up of demon spawns. It shifts and squirms before it starts to shrink and shrink until it's the size of a normal person. Then the blob condenses into a red humanoid form with bat-like wings and two small horns, only it looks as if it's made out of slime with goo constantly dripping off it.

"RAAWWW!" The lesser demon roared, sending a shockwave of mana outward that blew everything nearby away. It then starts to levitate, turning to look at them. Its eyes narrow.

Alex takes a deep breath and prepares himself. He then points his sword at the lesser demon and swings. A Mana Blade flies forth, slicing toward the lesser demon, hitting its torso and cutting straight into its body, only for the body to completely recover in the next second.

"Damn it! This thing regenerates so fucking fast!" Alex growls.

Amelia's eyes narrow and observe it for a second before shouting, "No, only its body recover. Its HP is still down by 400."

The demon roars at them and charge at Alex for hurting it. Alex dodges the first swing of the lesser demon's claws and uses his sword to deflect the second. As soon as its claw slid off the sword, he swung his blade around and slices across the lesser demon's face, opening a gash that runs from ear to ear which quickly closed up in the next second.

Alex jumps back, avoiding another attack from the lesser demon and making some distance. At the same time, Amelia sends a Mana Bolt Barrage at the lesser demon. All her bolts hit the lesser demon and send it flying backward, leaving a trail of goo behind.

[205 Damage]

The lesser demon lands on the ground and growls at the duo. Its head tilts to the side and raises its arms. Black bolts of light start to form in the air and shoot toward them.

"Shit! Dodge!" Alex yells and leaps over the bolt, throwing himself to the left. Amelia jumps over the same way as Alex. As soon as they landed, the lesser demon started to fire more black bolts, only for both of them to dodge the bolts again.

"Dammit! We're not going to be able to avoid these forever with how fast this thing is throwing them." Alex mutters in furstration, looking at the lesser demon.

As the two of them were dodging the lesser demon's attacks, it seems to notice that they are not taking any damage. The lesser demon roars in anger and charges forward to tear them apart. As the lesser demon gets closer, the lower half of its body transforms into a horse-like creature and gallops at a speed faster than before.

Alex snarls at the sight.

"What the hell?!" Alex cries, barely dodging its strike.

"Its stats have changed! It has less strength and more speed now!" Amelia shouts after she casts Observe on the demon again.

'It's an incomplete lesser demon!' Alex realizes what the name means. It's not a full demon yet, it has no set form yet so while it's weaker than normal lesser demons, it can change mid-battle unpredictably. If they don't kill it fast, it might transform into something they can't easily counter against.

"Amelia, how much health does it have?!" Alex asks/yells while dodging.

"It says 2,441!" Amelia yells back. She wants to help Alex but is afraid her spell might hit Alex if she attacks.

'My first attack did over 400 damage. I might be able to kill it with another six Mana Blade but I don't have enough Mana.' Alex thought. If they keep at the pace they're currently going, they won't be able to win. He tries to think of something, anything he can do. The fact that he has to dodge the Demon's attack isn't helping.

An idea suddenly pops up in his mind, not one he likes but the only thing he can think of that'll allow them to kill it.

"Amelia! Distract it for a second." Alex yells before blocking one of the demon's attacks. The strength of the attack sends him flying into the wall of a nearby house.

"Alex!" Amelia screams in worry when she sees him get sent flying.

"Distract it!" Alex screamed, gritting his teeth in pain.

Seeing that Alex is still alive, Amelia is relieved. She turns her attention toward the demon.

"Hey ugly!" Amelia shouts, catching its attention as she shoots another barrage of mana bolts at it. Despite it having a bigger body this time, it dodges most of the attack, blocking the two that hit it with its arm.

The demon snarled at Amelia. It fires a blast of black bolts at her. Amelia rolls out of the way and takes cover behind a tree.

Off to the side, Alex walks out of the hole he made in the house. He slices the palm of his hand with his sword. A red mana flows out of his hand, flowing into his sword until it glows bright red. An intense aura surrounds the sword as Alex pales from overuse of Mana.

"Ha… ha…" Alex braced himself. It's been a while since he used this skill, a forbidden skill that a person's blood as the conduit and their mana as the sacrifice to produce an attack so powerful, it can kill a peak Class C being. In comparison, Alex is currently only mid-Class D strength. A Class C being is more than twice as powerful as he is and can battle a Lesser Demon by themselves.

If he's not careful, this skill can suck all his Mana and kill him the moment he uses it.

Seeing that the demon is still a distance away from Amelia, Alex brings down his sword.

"Blood Art: Judgement Blade!"

Sensing the danger, the lesser demon quickly turns toward Alex but it's too late. The blood-red energy locked on the demon, trapping it in place. A giant red blade the length of a semi-truck descends from the sky. The demon roar in defiance, shooting hundreds of black mana bolts at the blade but it does nothing as the sword slice straight through the demon. Its cries are cut off as its body is split in half by the gigantic sword construct.

[Critical Hit! 2139 Damage]

Alex coughs up blood as he collapses onto his knees. The damage he was forcefully suppressing from the demon's attack finally caught up to him.

"Alex? Alex?!" Amelia asks in worry as she runs toward him.

"T-the demon- it's not dead." Alex says weakly, trying to push himself back to his feet. His muscles feel like lead.

"What?" Amelia gasps in shock, turning to see the two halves of the lesser demon slowly sliding toward each other.

"Kill it." Alex cry. He would do it himself but he doesn't have any strength at the moment.

"Mana Bolt Barrage!" Amelia casts as many mana bolts as she can muster, blasting the demon with dozens of attacks. Several bolts hit the demon's upper torso but it continues to slide toward the other half. Seeing that, Amelia cast another barrage of mana bolts at the demon, finally finishing it off for good.

Alex groans in pain, finally reaching the end of his reserves. Seeing that they're safe, he finally relaxes and passes out.
