Chapter 20 by Funtimes Funtimes

Fight now or in the spring?

Fight it out now

You turn towards your advisors. "I would be responsible for more of my loyal citizens' deaths if we turn back now. As your King, I cannot live with myself if I cause more deaths of my subjects than need by. No, raise the banner. For today we fight, and they will be held accountable for any actions they take."

Sir Trindon shouts, "Ye, Sir. To war we go. We will spill their blood on the fields."

Prince Luis marches his troops out through the Lothelsabourg's front gates the moment he saw your banner rise. He only had 114 Lothelsabourg troops plus 12 of his personal guards. Even from a distance, you can tell that Prince Luis and each of his personal guards' helmets all had a single blood-red stripe, proving that they went through with their threat. You ride in front of your troops, arms gripping your weapon and shield tightly. "Today will be a massacre!” you shouted to your troops. “Exact vengeance on all those who have blood on their helms. Maim them if you must, but I want them alive!"

And a massacre it is. The fields run red with the blood of Lothelsabourg's poorly equipped and poorly trained troops. Within fifteen minutes of the start of the battle, your thousands of troops have routed the Lothelsabourg's poorly equipped and poorly trained troops, and now they are begging for your mercy and clemency.

But none shall given today.

The fields run red with their blood

Prince Luis's personal guards are much better armed and trained, combined with the fact that they were not to be killed, which meant it took much longer for them to be defeated. Your men pushed them through the main gates, through the capital and then into the castle. Slowly, your men push them until they end up at the the Arch's Duke personal meeting room.

It was then Prince Luis finally accepts the futileness of the situation. He proclaims, "Tell your cowardly King that the day is his," as he orders his guards to lie down their arms. Before afternoon, you’re already marching through the street of Lothelsabourg's capital victoriously, with Prince Luis as your prisoner.

Your troops' celebration is in full swing by sundown your troops as their cheers filled the streets. Their cheers is met with the painful screams the Prince Luis's personal guards; their screams a serenade to accompany the festive moods.

As you have planed, each one of them are brutally tortured before being quartered.

Tied and in no position to move, Prince Luis tried to appeal when you announced their punishments. "They surrender, they mean you no more harm, you have no more reason to seek their deaths."

"No reason, you say?! Do you take me for a fool? Have you forgotten that they wore a newborn's babies' blood into battle?" you reply as you lazily signalled for the first guard’s fingers to be cut slowly.

At the sight of his man screaming in pain, Prince Luis tries again. "Then if you must have their deaths, at least make it quick that the end of an executioner blade."

You sneered at his words. "You chose to kill my child before I had even laid eyes on him. And your men wore his blood with any ounce of chivalry in their bones. So no. I’m going to take apart this man, flesh, bones and all, and you will witness it until he succumbs. Then the next one will take his place. This will continue until all guards are dealt with.”

Prince Luis couldn’t say anything more.

The first guard finally died, and the second one quickly takes his place. This shocking retribution from you causes your mother, Lady Beatrix, to seek an audience. My King... My son... I have come to beseech you. Must you seek more blood? Has their have enough? I know you have felt a lost, and so have I, but can not we grieve in peace without more blood being spilt?"
