Chapter 545 by lew54321 lew54321

Is she in her office?

Faulty faculty

You climbed the stairs and intended to head up towards Rebecca’s office, enjoying the fact that there was hardly anyone in the corridor. You were usually aware enough not to get tossed around in the crowds from the morning rush but not having to deal with it entirely was a novelty you rarely got to experience.

However as you went up the stairs, the quiet was interrupted by a grating voice that filled the space, making you pause at the top step before you could round the corner. There seemed to be even less people in your surroundings and you figured that the principal's voice scaring people away was a likely reason why.

“What do you mean student’s were spotted using the teacher’s bathroom!” she shouted, making you want to turn around and run away as soon as you heard the conversation.

You still had your goal of going to see Rebecca however and even without looking, you could tell you wouldn’t be able to get passed without being spotted.

“It’s just something another teacher has been saying so I can’t say anything for certain” a male voice replied, one you didn’t recognise but it sounded defensive as they didn’t want to offend the principal any further.

“Well someone needs to find out who they are! We can’t be having students doing god knows what in there. It’s private for a reason!” The principal replied, sounding even more hysterical despite the flat-toned responses of the poor person she was talking too.

“I’ll look into it Ma’am but I need to talk to you about…” The voice continued, trying to change the topic.

“Unless it’s about which student did this, I don’t think we have anything else left to talk about!” she said in a huff, ending the conversation.

If her tone wasn’t enough, the sound of her heeled shoes, quickly clicking against the floor as she walked towards her office definitely did.

You had to move slightly further down the stairs just to hide yourself a little more but you saw the edge of her office door open and quickly slam shut, followed by a sigh from the man that clearly showed his discontent over the situation.

The sound of his footsteps was a lot slower, dejected from essentially being berated for nothing he could control. Given you hadn’t heard the person's voice before, you assumed it wasn’t a teacher and one of the other faculty at the school that you had rarely interacted with.

Their steps headed off away from the stairs and even after peeking your head around the corner to watch them leave, you didn’t recognise them from behind.

You also didn’t know why you and Emma using the bathroom up here was worthy of being this man’s ‘top priority’ all of a sudden but apparently it was important enough to worry the principal.

You were sure you hadn’t spotted anyone as the two of you entered or left, and you were being very cautious about that fact at the time. Thinking back, there wasn’t anything that came to mind unless you had been making enough noise to alert someone outside while you were in there.

A blush rose to your cheeks about someone potentially overhearing you but if it had been a teacher, you would have expected them to wait for the culprit outside of the bathroom to catch you in the act instead.

Worrying about it now after the fact wasn’t going to change anything but you did now have to have a conversation about being more careful while you were at school instead of being more adventurous like she wanted.

With a sigh that rivaled the one you had just heard, you carefully finished your climb up the stairs and made your way towards Rebecca’s office.

Being careful not to knock too loudly in case it was mistaken for a knock on the principal’s door, you stood in front of Rebecca’s office. You could swear you heard a muttered curse word from inside before the door unlocked and Rebecca opened it to see you.

“Ohh!... thank god it’s you, quick get inside” Rebecca greeted, looking so relieved to see that it was you and not anyone else.

“Expecting someone else?” you replied, getting inside and hearing Rebecca lock the door behind you.

The last time you had done that it was to show Rebecca you were ready to be intimate but you knew that she was clearly in a different headspace when she locked the door herself, leading you to sit in the chair while she moved to the other side of her desk to sit down.

“You should have heard the argument that just happened out there. I was afraid you were my mother” Rebecca answered, whispering as she said her family member’s name as if it was a curse that might somehow summon her.

“I caught the end of it. How long had she been shouting?” you asked out of curiosity, wondering if you had heard the full conversation or only just the end of it.

“At least 5 minutes” Rebecca said with annoyance, seeing your surprised reaction before continuing.

“I don’t know how long she was talking before she was loud enough for me to hear but in what I could make out, something about the school looking unclean and then something about the bathroom” Rebecca relayed, seeing another look on your face at the mention of the bathroom but this time she waited for you to start talking.

“Yeah, about that…” you said, feeling sheepish all of a sudden.

You knew at this point there was no need to be shy in front of any of your subjects but the fact that you were about to reveal you had done something wrong in front of your teacher, an authority figure that you actually respected, felt like you were owning up to a crime.

You went through the story of how you and Emma had been feeling adventurous minus all the details about the ‘forget me now’s’, making it sound like you were taking even more of a gamble than you already were. Rebecca did however seem to enjoy listening to what you were saying and you got more into it as you went on.

“You should have asked me to keep guard, you wouldn’t have been as worried about getting caught that way” Rebecca added with a smile once you were finished, leaning back in her chair as she had been on the edge of her seat while she listened to you.

“I think you would have got distracted thinking about what was going on inside” You joked, imagining the scenario.

“I would not! I can restrain myself” she argued, straightening back up to defend herself.

“You can’t tell me you wouldn’t be a little bit curious. And besides, I think we would have enjoyed you being in the room with us rather than keeping watch” you said with a smirk.

Now it was Rebecca’s turn to blush as the thought went through her head, briefly turning away before she stammered to change the subject.

Author's note: I'm gonna make Tuesday my leeway day. If I don't manage to post a chapter on Thursday or Sunday, then the following Tuesday will be the day where that chapter will be posted instead. Hope that makes sense :)

What topic does she bring up?
