Chapter 41

Does the distraction work?
Fascination
You ever have those situations where you genuinely can't see how things are going to get worse, then they do? I'm worried this is one of those situations. Echo's face does not seem to appreciate my introduction, but also doesn't look like she wants to ruin Mum's first impression of her by cussing me out.
"Hi... Mrs Monroe." She follows up meekly. Mum looks back to Mama briefly, before turning back to the frozen faces of my girlfriends.
"Please, Scarlet's fine, otherwise it just gets confusing. You must be the one Elise told me so much about." Mum smiles kindly. She's always been the one to be more welcoming to new people, Mama prefers to haze them relentlessly. She reaches out her hand to shake Echo's, while adding. "All good, I promise."
Echo almost looks like she's worried this is a trap, I think she's got the impression that Mum's more like Rouge than she is. I give her a reassuring nod, and she grasps my mother's hand. "It's... Nice to meet you." She manages to mumble. I know she's restraining herself heavily, but it's kinda cute that she's trying so hard for me.
"So... Andi... We'll make sure to lock the door next time." Mama smirks, pulling the conversation back onto the uncomfortable elephant in the room. Andi's eyes cringe at the reminder, while Mum turns her attention back from Echo to ease the burden.
"You know, I think we met a couple of times back when you were a baby. I came back a few times when the triplets were newborns." Mum thinks aloud, approaching Andi. "Your parents had a lot on their plates back then, so we had you over here a few times to take the pressure off."
Wait, so we knew Andi all the way back then? That's weird, like an origin story or something. "We were used to pressure by that point." Mama laughs. "So... Are you two staying for dinner?"
It occurs to me that I didn't even think to ask about that... I suppose we got swept away in the awkwardness. "Is that alright?" I ask tentatively, almost expecting to be refused, but Mum simply nods and makes her way back upstairs.
"Don't wait up." Mama states with a wink before following her back upstairs... My parents have never been shy abut their affection for each other, but it never gets less cringy.
*
Dinners with our family are usually hectic, even more so when we have guests. Andi offered to help cook, but Mum shooed her away, insisting she's a guest. Eventually, Rosie and Poppy return home, surprised at us already being here.
"Not like I'm complaining, but a bit of warning wouldn't go amiss." Rosie moans as she takes a seat in the living room with us. "I've already used so much of my material for making Poppy blush on the walk home."
Poppy looks like she's already heard some truly outrageous things... But Echo seems ready to blow them out of the water. "Ooh, that seems fun. Hey, dollface, I've seen what Ty's packing down there, want all the details?" She grins evilly. Poppy doesn't seem sure if she's being serious or not... But it's interesting that she at least seems curious.
"I dunno, might take them a while, at the minute I've gone further with Poppy that he has." Andi laughs. That is... Technically true. Echo seems confused by the implication of that, but I wave it off to assure her it's nothing to worry about that.
"Come on, leave Poppy alone. If nothing else, she's got Marie's number for help in that department." I joke.
My sister seems to have had enough of the mockery, and in a rare occurrence, chooses to fight back. "Enough about Ty. Tell me, which one of you is fucking Rufus?" Poppy spits, before regaining her senses and clutching her hand to her mouth, an apologetic glow in her eyes.
Poppy stammers to apologise, while the three of us look at each other, unsure how to respond to the question... Until Rosie decides for us. "Oh my God... You both slept with him?" She cackles. I'd be worried about our parents overhearing, but with the noise coming from the kitchen it seems unlikely.
"We're kind of... A thing." Andi murmurs, now blushing herself. "All three of us." Words seem to evaporate from all of our mouths. Rosie and Poppy seem shocked at the revelation. Echo and I can't believe that she dropped that bomb so casually, and Andi doesn't seem to know what to say next.
"Yeah, actually, that makes sense." Rosie shrugs suddenly. I can't hide my surprise at the immediate acceptance, even if I knew that they'd have no problems with it. Poppy nods in agreement. "Plus, Echo seems the type to need multiple sex slaves."
Andi can't contain her laughter, breaking out into giggles at the audacity of the joke. "True, but be careful, keep talking like that, and I'll add you to the list." Echo smirks in retaliation.
"You and half the student population." I sigh. "That reminds me, did you see Sora after this morning?" I ask Rosie, remembering the situation in attendance.
"Yeah, caught up at lunch, gave her my number, you know, in case she needs someone to bust heads." My sister answers proudly.
The others seem confused at our conversation, but I take a moment to explain the story of our meeting, as well as my new reputation. "You? In a gang?" Echo howls with laughter at the idea. "With who? Some marshmallows? Maybe a crew of pillows?" Yeah, I get it, I'm soft, hilarious.
At this point, I'd love to come up with a counterpoint, but we're interrupted by a yell from Mama to set the table.
I'll have my ****... Probably.
How's dinner?
