Farmer's Market

Wendell reached for the passenger seat door but was stopped by a slap to the back of his head.

“Back seat, bud, you’re the Uber victim,” said Amber.

Wendell begrudgingly got into the back seat and gave a stink eye to Amber through the rear-view window.

After a quick drive, the trio got out of the car and immediately felt the unobstructed California sun. Wendell was definitely not a fan of the “cold in the shade, burning hot in the sun” phenomenon.

“Okay, I already have a list of things I need to do so maybe we should split up? This way will give you two a chance to get to know each other better. Maybe we can get something to eat together in about a half hour or so,” said Amber.

Elizabeth and Wendell look at each other somewhat awkwardly but ultimately agree to Amber’s suggestion. The pair watched as Amber went off on her own mission, leaving the two housemates to familiarize themselves with each other.

“After you,” said Wendell as he gestured for Elizabeth to lead the way.

“Have you been here before,” asked Elizabeth as she led them to look at one of the booths.

“No, how about you,” replied Wendell.

“It’s my first time too. So you, Amber, and Ezra are from Hawaii,” said Elizabeth.

“Yeah, we’re all from Oahu. I’ve actually been friends with Ezra since elementary school and with Amber since high school,” said Wendell.

“Oh, wow, that’s really cool,” said Elizabeth.

“How about you, where in New York are you from,” asked Wendell as they browsed another booth.

“Upper West Side,” replied Elizabeth.

The pair heard a pair of heels clatter closer and closer behind them. “Well, well, well. If it isn’t Mr. Sato.”
