Barry picked up the framed photo on his desk, a recent, professionally photographed shot of his wife and daughters. His thoughts immediately turned to his marriage -- it felt as if he and Samantha were drifting apart, and it seemed like the issue was familiarity. He looked closely at the face of his wife, framed by her brunette hair, lines forming around her mouth now that she was in her early 40s, with the hazel-colored eyes he'd been waking up next to every day for about two decades, and he sighed, "What if Samantha were different?"

He blinked, and he was now looking at a different pair of eyes, on a very different-looking woman.
