Evolution and

As I awoke I felt slightly different, looking myself over I saw that my pattern had changed with my black and orange patches expanding onto the outsides of my arms and legs along with the growth of my canines and slight height growth, standing at 6 foot 8 inches if I had to guess, "less that I expected honestly." I opened my stat menu.

not seeing anything notable in my sheet I looked at my specific stats, this is where the big change occurred as with my evolution the stats I got from my species almost double giving me an overall 25% increase to my stat total, looking closer at my species I tried getting a description, (Wild cat: a tier 2 monster common in forest environments and of a medium size.) (taur: denoting a mutation in a quadrupedal monster to have a upper body typically where its head would normally be.) reading the description I realized that I was using the basic cat monster evolution tree rather than a separate cat-taur tree meaning I should have access to a menagerie of possible evolutions.

Going back I thought to see if I could check my evolution tree, finding a tab I opened it and saw my current tree with cat at the bottom, wild cat above it, and 2 options available for my next evolution, big cat and Cait sith, I tried pulling up details and saw (big cat: an evolution which includes lion and tiger like monsters, noted for their large sizes and great strength.) (cait sith: with a size similar to wild cats this evolution gives the monster weak magical abilities.) reading these I came to the realization that choosing to be large at the beginning might have fucked with how my evolutions effected me because I was already tiger sized, pushing that thought away I decided that I wanted to test out my new stats sooner rather than later so getting out of bed I walked downstairs.

Going downstairs I saw my 3 hosts eating and talking about the details of the barn raising Marcus had planned, seeing a place set for me I sat down and started eating, the 3 looked at me confused for a moment before realizing the change in my pattern, Marcus spoke first "wait did you already evolve?!" I answered "it seems like it, I'm definitely stronger, I can feel it." Henry looked me up and down before saying "I was expecting more honestly." Cassidy agreed with Henry and I agreed with both of them, the 3 continued their conversation about the event and I listened along while eating.

After a bit Henry turned to me "you were planning on hunting goblins weren't you?" Marcus and Cassidy stopped talking waiting for my response "planning on it, I want to see if I can figure out what the dungeon masters plan it." "their plan?" Cassidy asked, I nodded "I think the first group I saved you 3 from was probably a scouting party and only attacked because of how undefended you 3 were, while the second party was probably an actual raiding party that I intercepted before it could attack, so I'm hoping to find out more details of its plan today, and maybe catch some goblins if I'm lucky."

Finishing my meal I left the how and down the trail towards the dungeon, it took me 3 hours this time to reach and now looking around the outside of the dungeon I noticed more footprints this time, looking around the tree line I found 4 trails, 1 was the one I come from which only had the prints of the original scouting party, the second that had seemed to be used since I destroyed the raiding party sent down it, a third that went east towards the mountains so didn't really matter, and the fourth which went south had seen the most activity by far so deciding to see what was so interesting I started moving.

After 2 hours I started hearing what sounded like a group of people ahead of me, moving off the trail I creeped towards the sound eventually finding a large clearing, looking into the clearing I saw a group of 4 buildings and a dozen goblinoids, scanning the area I also saw numerous blood stains, realizing this was probably a hamlet I could only imagine the worst for those that lived here, worse the goblinoids seemed to have taken up residence here setting up a forward base to attack other communities in the area.

I watched them for half an hour and ended up counting 10 goblins with bows, 5 orcs with clubs, 2 war orcs with axes and one with a sledgehammer, and 2 hobgoblins with swords, the hamlet itself was built in a semicircle with pairs of goblins keeping watch while the orcs were mostly hanging out in the houses and the hobgoblins were ordering people around, smiling at myself and knowing that the worst that could happen is I have to use final form a wicked smile splits my face as I decide to kill as many as I can.

Knowing that the goblins cant actually hurt me and seeing 2 orcs and a war orc talking outside I decide their my first targets, drawing my glaive, taking a deep breath, and estimating a 200 foot gap between us I charge, within 5 seconds I'd closed the distance and pounce on the war orc slamming him into the ground as the goblins start screaming, swinging my glaive in a horizontal arc I disembowel the 2 orcs before I twist my glaive and bringing it down in a vertical arc slash the war orcs throat clean open, as I look between the buildings waiting for someone to burst out a door the goblins try shooting me but their arrows just bounce off, finally a few seconds after I killed the war orc a door bursts open revealing the 2 hobgoblins who rush me as I rush them, doing as I did before I pounded the one directly in front of me while slashing the other, it only half worked though as while one hobgoblin was pinned the other was only hit along the arm causing him to switch from a 2 handed grip to a one handed grip of his sword, the injured hobgoblin stepped back and watched as I drove my glaive into his ally, this was followed by the sound of another door opening with the last 3 orcs and 2 war orcs, leaving the hobgoblin behind I activate my jackal spirit infusing my glaive with confusion, meeting them half way I shifted to the left and grazed an orc and war orc with my glaive before backing off and circling around them to see what happens, the effect was immediate for the orc as he swung for another orc and getting a good hit in he was cut down by the uninjured war orc, causing the unaffected 3 to turn their attention to the injured war orc momentarily, which I used to close the gap and slashed the 2 remaining orcs fatally along the back, the confused war orc seemed to just be uncoordinated rather than violent so now in close range I returned my glaive to my inventory and turned my attention to the uninjured war orc who swinged his sledgehammer with such **** that the hit stunned me momentarily, the confused war orc tried to swing his axe at me as I recovered but I easily dodged the sloppy strike and closing the distance ripped out his throat with my claws, seeing the injured hobgoblin rejoining the fight I pulled out my glaive again and charged him easily running through with my longer weapon, my now last enemy as the goblins had seemingly ran away tried to hold his ground but I quickly broke his weapon with my hands and tore out his throat.

With the goblins running for it and not really caring if the dungeon master learned my race I decided to check the houses, the first one I checked seemed to have been converted into a back how for the goblins, quickly closing the door do to the disgusting smell I moved to the next, this seemed to be used as a storage room and the room of the hobgoblins, nothing of value was left so to the next which was just the orcs and war orcs bunkhouse, disappointed I moved onto the last only to stop dead in my tracks as I entered, the only think in this house were 4 human women tied up and clearly having been brutally abused by the 22 goblinoids.

The 4 women were **** though alive and deciding to help them I moved them to the hobgoblins house, then bandaged their injuries, and laid out some food and water before heading down the road that lead outside the hamlet to find some people to deal with them, after an hour of walking I saw 3 farmers in the distance so activating my polymorph, putting on my clothes, and carrying my still bloody glaive walked up to them, they immediately looked afraid and deciding to cut to the chase I asked "you know the hamlet down that way?" they nodded "just came from there, it got taken over by goblins and some of the women are still alive, do you mind helping me bring them to the nearest town?" They looked shocked before one of them said "our town isn't far, we can head there and grab more people?" looking back towards the hamlet I said "that works, I'm going to go back and watch them, you 3 better hurry the hell up or else, got it?" the 3 nodded and as I headed back to the hamlet they quickly running off, by time I got back to the hamlet 2 of the girls had awakened but were too exhausted to do much but cry, I told them what I did then helped them eat some bread and drink some water, after another hour and a half a group of a dozen peasants arrived some carrying weapons.

Exiting the building I walked over, an older woman met me halfway and asked "you're the one who killed all these goblins and orcs?" I said yes "well done lass." she said with a smile before it dropped and she said "those boys mentioned some girls were captured by these monsters?" I said yes again "you've already done enough let us take care of them.'' And so I did, I told them about the dungeon and how I'd followed their trail to this hamlet, the people commended me and asked my name which I gave before leaving with the girls, turning around I started on my way home.

by time I arrived home it was already dusk, most of the blood had fallen off when I polymorphed so I was quickly able to bath myself before heading inside, the 3 were at the kitchen table seemed to have already eaten dinner though a bowl was left out for me, sitting down I began eating while they kept talking, finishing my meal Henry asked me "how was your day?" rubbing my face I said "the hunting was good but the damn goblins had already taken over a hamlet by time I found them." Marcus asked next "and the people?" "didn't see any men, probably dead, 4 women were still there but the goblins didn't treat them well." the mood grew somber at that, Marcus sighed "poor girls." we all agreed, I said I was heading to bed before asking Henry to join me, he said to the surprised Marcus and Cassidy "i'll explain tomorrow." before joining me.

reaching my room Henry sat down on my blanket and patted his thigh, getting the message I laid my head on his lap as he began running his fingers through my hair after a minute he asked "you want to talk about it?" I sighed before saying "there isn't much to it, I'm just empathetic and seeing those girls like that hurt, and then I think about what if that was Cassidy," he stopped for a moment before continuing to run his fingers through my hair "my sister would have bitten off her own tongue first." he joked, I chuckled "true enough." sitting up I pulled him into a kiss, not long after he laid down next to me and I pulled him close before drifting off to sleep.
