Chapter 15 by OathkeeperPath OathkeeperPath

How does Commander Steel conduct newbies first day?

Every hero's bain, paperwork and keeping Legal happy

Stepping into the Field

Commander Steel's office in the training area was a blend of practicality and personality. Awards and commendations adorned the walls, alongside photographs of her with various other heroes and heroines. The furniture was sleek and utilitarian, but there were personal touches - a family picture on her desk, a well-worn baseball glove on a shelf.

"Take a seat, Ariea," Commander Steel said, gesturing to the chair across from her desk. "We've got a fair bit to cover before we head out."

Ariea settled into the chair, feeling both anticipation and a hint of anxiety. There was so much to learn, and she knew that expectations were high.

"Let's start with the basics," Commander Steel began, her voice firm but not unkind. "Shifts, patrols, arrests, and cooperation with other agencies. I know you were supposed to read up on this, but let's make sure we're on the same page."

Ariea's heart sank as she realized she had forgotten that crucial piece of homework. But as Commander Steel started to quiz her, the answers flowed effortlessly from her lips. It was as if the knowledge was already there, imprinted on her mind. On his HUD AISYS scrolled a message noting his confusing at his own knowledge, 'I took the liberty of implanting the information during sleep training, due to need to fix the FAILURE STATE I had to include it in your sleep training if it was going to get done at all.'

"Excellent," Commander Steel said, her eyes narrowed thoughtfully. "I must say, I'm impressed by how well you've retained all that information. I'm more than comfortable signing off on this paperwork and we can start field training, If i had my way we would just be doing that without any of this paperwork but that decision was taken out of my hands. The Legal and PR departments honestly the only thing I'm afraid of." She finished with a laugh.

"Thank you, Commander," Ariea replied, hiding her surprise at her own performance.

With the theoretical portion completed, Commander Steel signed off on the pre-fieldwork instruction, her signature crisp and authoritative.

"Now, onto the real deal," she said, rising from her desk. "Patrols are about more than just looking for trouble. They're about presence, about understanding the community, about being ready to respond at a moment's notice, and understanding what problems find home most often in each area, how to minimize collateral, and knowing when to call for back up."

Ariea's heart beat faster, he was going to be out there, on the streets, as a hero. The previous nights failure against a common thug still fresh only feed this apprehension, he was going to facing that and worse, while looking like the kind of women that would fit at a Halloween fashion show. 'NO i can do this, I am a strong self confident wom.. man. Sorta'

Commander Steel led himthrough the hallways of HQ, her stride confident and purposeful. They passed other heroes and heroines, some nodding in recognition, others lost in thought or conversation. The building hummed with activity, a hive of righteousness and responsibility.

As they reached the exit, Commander Steel turned to Ariea, her eyes serious but also reassuring.

"You ready for this?" she asked, her hand resting on the door handle.

Ariea took a deep breath, feeling the weight of what lay ahead but also a thrill of excitement.

"I'm ready, Commander," she replied, her voice steady.

"Good,"

With that, they stepped out into the city

First day out on the town
