Chapter 2

What's next?
Evaluate the tower
You tether your horse to a nearby tree and examine the tower. It has not collapsed, to your relief, although it does appear to have suffered some damage in the centuries since it was abandoned. It should serve your needs well enough.
While it is crumbling now, should you have the funds and labour necessary it can be rebuilt and upgraded in the future.
You know that the tower has magical wards to protect it from the arcane sight of those who would seek to pursue you. Since you were a mere court-wizard, you can be hopeful that they have not already scried you and thus have no idea regarding your current whereabouts.
Currently, the tower has five levels. The ground floor contains a small audience chamber and dining hall, the second floor up has a barracks, and the top floor has the main suite and study. Descending from the first floor there is a level containing storage rooms and a level containing the tower's dungeon, as well as a spacious chamber for magical experimentation.
Unfortunately, some of these levels are in ill repair and will need to be refurbished.
You take a moment to settle in to your new lair.
What now?
