Escape

Knowing your sister is no longer human but one of the vampiric predators makes you upset. A tear forms in your eye as you wipe it away and try to suppress your rage. You hope it wasn't your former friend who had taken away her innocence. Pushing the mix of emotions down, you try to concentrate on how best to avoid them and raise some sort of help.

Looking away from the Caroline and Debra you see an array of lights further up the coast, which you presume to be a small settlement. Knowing this is you best hope you begin to crawl across the dunes, hoping that your scent is still covered by the crashing waves and the coarse sand beneath your body. You can feel your heart hammering in your chest as you slowly edge towards your goal.

After a few minutes, you come to a stop and let a low breathy sigh slide out from between your lips. You look around cautiously before easing yourself away from the sand and taking a few tentative steps knowing that a brisk walking pace would easily suffice over a slow shimmy. Moving briskly forward, you begin to feel unnerved as if you are being watched.

Wanting to hide your scent you divert off of the dunes and fall into step beside the crashing waves. As you make your descent two pinpricks of an eerie crimson light start to speed toward you.
