Escape

We continue to run. We're almost at the hotel's rear entrance.

"Watch out!" I pushes Doreen aside, saving her from a soldier's bullet.

"Whoa! What now...?!" Nemo asks.

I quickly push Doreen behind me, and several Progenitor soldiers come dashing around the corner ahead of us.

"Get out of the way!" Van Helsing's quick gunfire blows away the approaching enemies in an instant.

"Why is Progenitor here?" I ask.

"The police and military always make a show of taking action. I'm sure it was easy for Progenitor to find out about it." As Van Helsing speaks, several more Progenitor troops appear and block out way. "Hmph. They just keep coming. So prepared." As Van Helsing steps forward, Doreen steps out from behind me and puts out a hand to stop her.

"I'll take this." Doreen says.

"Doreen...?!" I ask.

"You go ahead. Especially you, Van Helsing. You have the important task of keeping the army's soldiers at bay." Doreen says.

"Fine, let's go." Van Helsing says.

Everyone begins to move at this.

"Can we really just leave her?" I ask.

"There won't be a problem. I can tell from the way she carries herself. Doreen is highly skilled." Van Helsing says. "They won't stand a chance against her. I'm sure she'll handle them in an instant."

"Finally, an exit! Let's get the hell out of this place!" Nemo kicks down the door and the sunlight rushes in at us.

This is where we had concealed the Ornithopter.

About twenty army soldiers are positioned here, surrounding the machine. They have their guns pointed at us.

"Ugh... Soldiers here, too!" Victoria says.

"Tch...! I hate to admit it, but it looks like Holmes really did see through our plans!" Lupin says.

"Arsene Lupin! I've finally found you! It's time for you to give in, at last!" Agrona appears from behind the soldiers.

"It's as if that woman doesn't even care about Victoria anymore." Lupin says.

"I will capture you right now and clear my name!" Agrona says. "Lupin and accomplices! Give yourselves up now!"

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, what do we do?! We've had so many close calls I don't know what to do anymore!" Nemo says.

"It's easy. If they see through our plans, then there's only thing left to do." Van Helsing says. "Defeat them by ****. Do they think they can stop me through this handful of peons?"

"You...! How could you defy the government, when you're supposed to be a hero!" Agrona says.

"Hmph. I threw away any accolades a long time ago. I have no regrets." Van Helsing says.

"You threw it away? How dare you treat an honourable title given to you by His Majesty that way! Arrest her for lese-majeste!" Agrona says.

Van Helsing moves before any of the troops can react to Agrona's commands.

A series of explosions goes at the soldiers' feet, and a cloud of dust rises.

"Whaaa...?!" a soldier says.

Another soldier coughs. "Damn... I can't see a thing!"

"Victoria! We'll clear the path. Run!" Van Helsing says.

"This way, Caleb!" Victoria takes my hand and starts running through the cloud.
