“Alas, it is fate,” said Amaterasu, the chief deity of the Amatsu-Kami. “Just as it is the fate of earth to descend into the cycle of chaos once more.”

“He was the best candidate to arise thus far,” sighed Quanyin, the goddess of mercy of the Xian, who are the Chinese gods. “I fear we may never see one of this caliber again.”

“Then perhaps it is time we step in to remedy this,” declared Aysyt of the Dievas, the Slavic/Russian gods.

The final goddess contemplated the situation at hand. Gaea, mother of earth finally spoke, “This is an immeasurable loss indeed. The fate of this man, Erik Killmonger, is intrinsically linked, not only to the fate of the earth, but the weave of fate itself. His fall could put the continuum of existence in jeopardy. I hereby agree with Aysyt and propose we intervene. It is for the good of the universe.”

“I shall abstain,” said Bast, “He has proven himself unworthy to be my champion. I highly doubt he is worthy for any higher purpose.”
