Epilogue

Another day’s work done, you walk up towards your house. You hand your coat and bag up as you come inside. Turning the corner, you see a mop of green hair sitting at the kitchen counter. You smile at the sight of your favorite girl. You place your hand on her head tussling her hair.

“DAD!” Tsugi says trying to straighten her hair. Your daughter’s hair has never been straight despite the young girl’s best efforts. Locks of green twisting and sticking out at all angles. Tsugi seems content with the state of her hair, despite it looking very similar to how she started, and she returns to eating her snack.

“You know where Mom is?” you ask her.

Tsugi looks around the room, before pointing up and slightly behind her, “She’s in my room.” Her pointing finger slowly drifting to infront of her while still reaching towards the ceiling, “I think she must be doing laundry.” Tsugi rests her arm returning to her snack.

You race upstairs to find Tomoko putting a load of dirty clothes into the washer. You stand in the doorway for a second watching her bounce from one foot to the other. “I think Tsugi’s quirk is manifesting,” you tell her.

“WHAT!” Tomoko stops to look at you. “Did she do something? Are you sure? What was it?” your wife’s energetic nature shining through. The both of you were uncertain if your daughter would actually inherit a quirk, since you were quirkless from birth and your wife had lost hers years ago.

“I can’t be certain but I think she was using ‘Search’ when I asked where you were.”

Tomoko jumps around the laundry room, “Yes! Yes! Yes! Oh my god I have to call the team.” She brushes past you rushing down the hall. You turn to watch, just as she sprints back at you wrapping her arms around your neck and kissing you. You hardly have time to register what’s going on before she’s disappearing down the hall again. You can hear her voice carrying down the hallway, “Shino you’re never going to guess what just happened.”

You finish loading the washer, listening to Tomoko excitedly talk on the phone. It’s not long before you hear her feet pounding down the stairs as she runs to Tsugi downstairs.

Tsugi walks between you and Tomoko holding the hands of both of you as the three of you approach the Pussycat HQ. Tomoko guides you and Tsugi through the headquarters and out back to the training grounds. Tomoko kneels next to your daughter, “Tsugi, can you tell me who’s behind that rock?”

Tsugi stares at the rock, “It’s Auntie Ryuko.” The rock shifts as the pro hero uses Earth Flow to move the obstacle between you.

“Alright now where am I?” Shino’s voice echos around your head. Tsugi takes a second to look around before pointing behind you at the roof of the Pussycat HQ. “Very good but what about your Uncle Yawara?” Shino’s voice is projected into everyone’s head once again.

“He’s over there,” she says pointing at another boulder.

Yawara steps out, “Good job, litte Tsugi, you’ve found everyone!”

“Nuh uh, Uncle Yawara,” the messy haired four-year-old says. “We still haven’t found Aunt Iyasu and Akasuki,” she says pointing at another mud wall. “Chikako is on the swings,” Tsugi says pointing to the playground that is around the side of the building. “Or Kota,” she says pointing out another hiding spot. All of her found family members step out of their hiding places.

“Is that everyone?” you ask knowing that there is one more person out there.

Tsugi squints her eyes scanning over the training ground again, “Yea, I found everyone.”

Tomoko turns Tsugi pointing towards the tree line in the distance, “Can you ‘see’ anyone over there?”

“I can’t see anybody,” Tsugi says puffing out her cheeks.

“Just close your eyes, and focus. Don’t pay attention to everything, just search straight ahead,” Tomoko uses her experience to teach your daughter.

Everyone watches, waiting to see if Tsugi will be able to push past her limits. Tsugi gasps, “It’s Auntie Tasu!”

Shino telepathically calls out to Tasukeko telling her that she’s been found. She comes into view riding a bicycle. When she gets close, Tasukeko jumps off the bicycle seamlessly pulling it back into her hammerspace. “Tsugi, are you keeping suckers in your hair again?” she asks ruffling your daughter’s already messy hair and pulling a sucker from hammerspace as her hand retreats. Tsugi smooths her hair, to little effect, before taking the sucker.

“You did great. Why don’t you go play with Chikako? She wanted to show you her new Uravity doll,” Akasuki says patting her niece on the shoulders.

Tsugi gasps again a sparkle in her eye, “Uravity!” Tsugi runs off to see her cousin’s new toy, excited at the prospect of playing with their newest hero fascination.

“I think it’s safe to say you’re right. She’s definitely got your quirk,” Ryuko says.

“She’ll need some training still, but I’ll start talking to the license board about getting her special permission to help on disaster rescues,” Shino starts on their plans for the future.

Tomoko and the Pussycats start discussing everything that needs to be in place. Akasuki and Tasukeko jump in mentioning the child sized support items they could craft. Iyasu comes to your side, “Want to check on the kids with me?”

Your sister-in-law and you round the corner to see the kids playing on the jungle gym. Kota has brought out his Deku action figures to play with the little girls. Tsugi runs up to you when she sees you, “Dad, did you bring my dolls?” You dig in your bag pulling out the two dolls she packed. “Pinky and Rule!” your daughter grabs the two dolls before running back to where Chikako and Kota are playing.

“They are getting so big,” Iyasu laments as the two of you take a seat on a nearby bench.

“Oh, don’t remind me. I don’t know if I can handle her growing up,” you watch as Tsugi takes a moment to try and smooth her hair again. You smile imagining all the great things still to come for your little green haired daughter.
