Epilogue (Adonis)

It was disparate outcomes that troubled her, Elizabeth thought. Aaron was basically in a financially abusive 'relationship' with a stripper. Katie was successful in life as a reporter in Los Angeles, but she was in thralldom to a felon and crime lord. Emily, worst of all, hadn't been heard from in some time. She was alive, because she'd asked for a welfare check. But she was apparently Victor's retribution on her.

Frankly Douglas, back up in South Carolina, had a more healthy throuple relationship with Morty and Jada than anything Elizabeth's children had. It didn't make any sense, giving the loving bond that existed between Adonis and Elizabeth. But maybe the individual traumas -- over Douglas, over Jamaal -- overwhelmed what good parenting she did. It was a happy ending for her, but a dark timeline for those she loved most.
