Epilogue: Maria Tellea

Maria went back to her home, feeling dejected. A part of her couldn't believe she hadn't been chosen. She spent weeks sulking as her family continued to decline under her father's rule. Eventually she had an epiphany and left her room, heading out into the streets. She walked the city seeing firsthand what she knew to be true. Saw the pain her family was causing.

Her first major act after being rejected by the voices was stealing from her father. She took what money she could under her father's nose and gave it to the citizens. Doing what she could monetarily and otherwise to help those her family were hurting. Her father was furious when he learned what she had done and she was severely punished and disowned from the family. Everything she had was taken from her in a moment.

Left on the streets with only her clothes she was taken in by a family she had helped. They gave her what they could and she gratefully accepted it. She lived with the family for a few years until her father and many other major figures in her family were arrested for treason.

Her father and many other members of her family were executed and her family was shamed and stripped of all of it's titles, land and wealth. The Tellea family was nothing now, but Maria's life was unchanged as she continued to live with the peasant family, working to earn her keep and finding a sort of happiness in life as a peasant. She eventually married into the family she had been living with for years anyway and eventually had children. She died at the age of 48 from complications involved in childbirth with her third child.
