Epilogue: Lyssa

Lyssa returned to her world. The face of the tyrant looking down at her. It was a banner over the entry point declaring the Tyrant's dedication to protecting her citizens from external threats. Lyssa passed through the gates and was immediately stopped by guards. She was interrogated on her reason for leaving the city and eventually explained about the Tower, but kept her specific desire hidden. She made something up instead. Regardless she was imprisoned under suspicions of harboring seditious thoughts and remained imprisoned for ten years.

This turned out to be something of a hidden boon as she met a number of other revolutionary minded prisoners inside. After ten years she had built a revolutionary cell inside the prison and they staged a prison break and escaped. This small cell once outside grew quickly.

What followed was years of tense work. Lyssa with her new allies carried out various actions against the Tyrant's regime. They celebrated many victories, but also mourned many defeats. Lyssa experienced the deaths of many friends and spent most of her life fearing the future and expecting at any moment to find herself captured. Which did eventually happen.

A revolutionary gathering she was at was betrayed and raided and she along with many others were captured. As one of the recognized heads of the revolution they made a big show of publically humiliating her and then finally... Beheading her.

Her story ends there. A tragic ending of a woman broken, mocked and killed, but her **** had the opposite effect than intended. The revolution stepped into high gear. The cruel public execution galvanized people all over and what had started as a revolution became a full on civil war.

How it ended, who won and what became of the tyrant is beyond the scope of this story however. Lyssa's name was chanted long after her ****. A warcry and a demand for freedom.
