Eobard!?

Eobard Glemen - The Bard of Keimlend

"Kat! am I glad to see you!" The old man hopped down from the table and made his way towards her. He wasn't a very tall man, Katarina could look him right in the eye if she stood on the tips of her toes. Right now though, the musician seemed much taller. His light blue eyes reflected the candle light as she studied Katarina. "Always knew you were a fighter Kat, that spear looks just right for you."

He looked down and grimaced as the bodies of the imps erupted in that weird cold flame. "Used it just right too."

Words flew out of Katarina's mouth like a flock of frightened pigeons. "Where is everyone? Have you seen any more of those things? What happened to you? What was that music? Are you really who I think you are?"

Eobard arched a silver eyebrow at her and she fell silent.

"Kat, its me. I fear that I have been deceitful these past years. We don't have much time to sit here telling old tales but long story short. Kat, I am a bard. That is a person who fights with music, it is magical in nature and before you go on telling me there is no such thi-"

"I know about magic. One of the demons came to the forge and hit me with this pink ball of...energy." Katarina cut him off, impatient.

"Oh... well then, I'm glad you you managed to get away from that. Anyway, you must know that I am a widow. I retired from adventuring when my partner and love died saving my life. It matters not now but I was once known as The Bard of Keimland." Katarina's jaw dropped. Eobard was... an adventurer? A hero?

"You were the bard to a whole country!?" She almost shouted.

Katarina stopped and really studied Eobard. She saw what she was expecting, he was the inn's musician. His hair was thinning but he had long silver locks that he left to its own devices. His hands were large and callous. He did have very long fingers but that was still everything Katarina remembered. Then again, why would a musician have multiple scars all over their body? Eobard must really have taken several wounds in his day. She looked into his eyes and saw something there that she had never seen. This was a man who had seen the world. She had never noticed it before, but she saw it now. Still, Eobard's music was passable at best! Even worse after a storm.

"I know what you're thinking Kat and I don't take offence. I've... lost my magic. At least until tonight it seems. Still, there's only so much I can do with these old hands and this crappy lute. What I would give to have my harp now. Anyway, I only saw these two and could only really stall them. I'm so glad you came when you did Kat. Do you know more?" Katarina told him about the imp that came to the forge and how she killed it. She also told the bard about how there are supposed to be 10 of the creatures.

"Good, I'm proud of you Kat. So seven more of these bastards huh. Well. I guess this old man may need to come out of retirement. You're still going to do most of the fighting though, I'm not that type of hero you see." He said as he made his way to the door, looking back and winking at Katarina.

She hurried after him, mouth still agape from seeing the changed man.

Where do they go?
