Entrenching herself

“Hey Mr Ramirez.” Vi says, opening the door to his office with her hip, “I’ve got the assignments you needed graded.” She steps inside, Mr Ramirez looking up with a warm smile.

“Ah, welcome back, Vi.” He pushes his reading glasses up his nose, “thank you for that, you didn’t put yourself out too much did you?” He asks.

Vi shakes her head in response, dropping the backpack onto the spare chair in front of his desk, “Nah!” She grins, “Not at all! I always go time for my favourite male teacher.”

Mr Ramirez laughs, taking the stack and dragging it towards himself, “What an honour. I don’t make the mixed genders list?”

“Oh you’re number one on that list too, but I didn’t want to inflate your ego too much.”

“Ha. Ha.” Mr Ramirez smiles as he looks towards the monitor on his desk.

Vi sits down herself, bringing out her own laptop from her bag, she asks him, “Did you get new glasses?”

Mr Ramirez looks up, slightly surprised, “I did indeed. I have to admit, I’m surprised that you noticed.”

Vi nods, “They look really good, you really suit those frames, much better than your old wiry ones.” Vi grins, whispering conspiratorially, bringing a hand to her mouth, “Did your girlfriend buy them for you?”

Mr Ramirez blushes, “I don’t know how appropriate that conversation with a student is.” But he laughs all the same.

“So…. That’s a no.” Vi grins, “Well, if theoretically Mr Ramirez chose those for himself, I can easily say he has great taste.”

“Theoretically, Mr Ramirez thanks you.”

Vi leans over the desk, her hands flat on the wood, staring close at Mr Ramirez’s face, he doesn’t shift too much, tensing and moving up slightly, but not moving back significantly.

“Vi?” He asks.

She leans back, nodding approvingly, having given him a look down her shirt, which she was glad to see he did take a quick look at, “Those frames really do suit you, your eyes are so nice, I never noticed how green your eyes are.” She smiles, “They look great!”

Mr Ramirez blinks, processing it and then smiling, “Thank you, that’s very nice of you.” He takes a look at her, considering his next step, “I suppose it’s only fair, for me to reciprocate, you have very nice eyes too, your glasses suit you.”

Vi smiles, looking down, she bites her lip and grabs her glasses case out from her bag, she slides them on and gives playfully puts a finger on her chin and gives him a cute little pose, “Why thank you kind sir, consider us matching now.”

Mr Ramirez chuckles, he looks away and pulls out a stack of papers from a drawer in his desk, “Alright, enough dilly dallying I think.”

Vi gives him a playful groan.

“Time to grade some papers, you can put some headphones in if you’d like, or play it out loud, just not too loud.”

“Oh Mr Ramirez, I’m about to put you onto some banging music.”
