Emily reads the texts

The green bubbles popped up against the white background. Emily **** herself to read them.

"Thinking about you."

"I need you inside me."

"Not my pussy. My ass. After work."

Emily stared at those three sentences for what felt like an infinity but in reality was maybe 30 seconds. It was true. James was cheating on her and now she knew. But what could she do? Confront him? What if he wanted a divorce? She would feel like a failure. Once again, she would be Emily O'Sullivan, the disappointment in her family. Her older sister, Kelly, would let Emily stay at her and her husband's summer cottage while the divorce was being finalized. Kelly would bring up Emily's past relationships and how she always chose boys who hurt her. No, she wouldn't divorce James.

But how could she not tell James what she saw? He would obviously know his text messages had been read because the stupid red bubble wouldn't be there when he would inevitably read what Hannah sent him. Could she delete Hannah's texts? No. That would only prolong things. Emily had to tell James she knows about his affair.

Emily put the phone down and began to cry. She was at a terrible crossroads in her marriage and had to make a decision. Would she confront him angrily and demand he stop his adultery or wait until she had a well-thought out plan to make him pay for his infidelity?
