Eclipse

A commotion began to rise as the outside slowly darkened. It was dreary, unsettling and unexpected.

"Hey, take a look at that."

A passenger spoke in awe, watching as a moon-shape object orbited slowly into the morning gaze of the sun. NASA hasn't given an update of there being a total solar eclipse due this year, so this caught everyone off guard.

The temperature began to cool, aiding the hellish heatwave that has been in effect lately. Revealing away the annulus around the darkened figure, giving an illuminating view for everyone to see within the tinted panels.

"Hmm?"

Stuck on the same tram heading to work, Veronica peered down at her phone. Distracted by the captivating show in the sky, a message appeared from her parents. Living abroad from Scotland, in America for a higher degree while working as a sous-chef. She eyes the photos her mom has taken with a short comment.

'What on Earth is that?'

Chills ran down her spine, seeing they were witnessing the same event. With a second photo of the moon beginning to rise in the opposite horizon.

Her amber gaze meets up at the anomaly with fear and curiosity. Suddenly she was rocked forward into a redhead as the bus came into a screeching hawt.

"Damn drivers! Apologies everyone!"

The driver announced to the rattled passengers. Shaken up from being slammed against the back of the seats in front of them, or like Veronica, **** into those standing in the aisle.

"I'm sorry, are you okay?"

The white dyed hair sous-chef spoke out quickly to the red head. Already unnerved by the eclipse, her grip on the railing tightened, along with her phone.

Outside, people can be seen looking up at the sky. Taking photos of the darkened mass. For a brief moment, silence began to blanket over the city that never sleeps. No birds, no echoing sounds of blasting horns or music. Blissful silence.
