Earth (Code Geass) - Partial Conversion

The world was divided. Humans and hermpires.

That it wasn’t wholly hermpire was thanks to a European Union diplomat present in the Britannian Capital during the initial outbreak.

The former general barely escaped to his aircraft, his bodyguard detail died to a man to make it possible. The televised chaos ripping through the Britannian Empire lent credence to the man’s warning and his first hand knowledge of the incredibly fast infection rate along with his contacts with the upper echelons of the European Bureaucracy made possible the swift, brutal, and most importantly successful effort to keep the contagion from crossing the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. Passenger ships and aircraft traveling from the Britannian continents were warned to turn around, any that refused were destroyed.

Britannia briefly fell into civil war as its still human Areas fought to maintain their humanity. There were international calls for intervention but the other world powers proved unwilling to risk their soldiers to the contagion, especially when it was learned that the hermpire conversion could subvert a person’s loyalties entirely in some cases. In the face of this existential threat, the European Union, the Chinese Federation, and all of the smaller nations of the world put aside their differences and forged an extensive military alliance to contain the hermpire outbreak.

Within two months, for all intents and purposes the entirety of the Britannian Empire had been converted. The chaos and ended and the authoritarian power of the Empress was even more absolute than it had been before the event.

A new cold war descended upon the world, one that made the last one seem anemic in comparison.
