What do you do?
Dungeon, start!
The marching order when entering this cavern is as follows: Niki takes the front as always, though quite close behind her steps Nyllia, leading the charge by way of your immovable shield and unstoppable sword. Next is you, sandwiched in the middle like always. Eva and Amara are nearly side by side, and then taking up the rear is Masumi. You keep a close eye on your all-spellcasters back line, though you trust them all, and Masumi especially you figure can handle herself.
It's an awkward, winding descent, though it's thankfully wide enough to stand and gradual enough to where nobody slips and tumbles the rest of the way down.
Then to your surprise, you can see the soft glow of magic fire ahead--flickering, though no warmth emanates from within. Some sort of magic lies ahead. Whether or not that's what Eva was detecting, you're not sure, but your party slows as they approach the mysterious light.
The tunnel opens to a hallway. It seems that the wall at some point collapsed, as there are chunks of stone and dirt from within the cave lining the otherwise smooth tiled floor.
Looking left and right, it seems the hallway continues a distance in both directions. It's quite beautiful within. The walls are intricately decorated and illuminated by magical torches emitting bright white light. Much of the carvings illustrate large stars--pointed shapes, not round like the sun. They're like sparkles perhaps, or diamonds. It reminds you of the sort of accessories Eva likes to adorn herself with. Everything is either white--glistening, almost as if made from crystal--or a pale shade of blue.
"A solid structure," Masumi says quietly, though her voice carries out across the old stone walls. "But nothing like anything I've seen before."
"What about you?" Niki asks Eva.
"... I don't know," she replies. "It doesn't look dwarven, that's for sure. Draconic? No. Elven maybe?"
"I do not believe so," Nyllia says.
"Not anything I have ever seen," adds Amara.
You peer around curiously. "A buried structure from an unknown culture. We better be careful. Any kind of danger could await us. Traps left by the original owners, or brand new residents looking for a snack. Remember that big slime we ran into outside. I'm sure that's related."
Niki raises her shield. "You know the drill," she says.
"I trust you to protect us," Nyllia says with her sword at the ready.
"Hearing that from an adventurer like you, Nyllia, is just the confidence boost I need."
"You needed one? I am surprised."
"Well, no. But it still makes me blush a little to hear."
"Let's go left first," you command. "We'll hug the wall, just in case this is some sort of a maze, intentionally or not. Don't just look forwards. Look up too. Watch your footing, and call out if you see something. All right, dungeoneer Niki. After you."
She nods with a grin and begins to march forwards.
Your party does as you instructed and hugs the left wall, taking a right turn up ahead to yet another hallway, though you can see a couple doors down this way.
"It's beautiful here," whispers Eva.
"Indeed," Nyllia responds. "I have been through many dungeons, and they usually feel more foul than this one."
After Niki arrives as the doorway, she wraps her hand around the handle. "Well, if it's trapped, bring it on. I'll tank any swinging blades, poisoned arrows, or whatever. Go ahead, dungeon! I didn't get exiled from my homeland for nothing." She then yanks on it, and it pulls right open.
The party remains tense for a moment, waiting for a trap to spring, but it never comes.
"Ooh. Treasure!" Niki exclaims.
You peek inside to see a small chamber. Inside are various wooden crates, many of them filled with various sizes and colours of glowing crystals. None are quite something you recognize, but you've also seem countless different shards of whatever on your travels, so they could very well be anything. At the very least, they must contain some amount of magic if they're luminous.
