Chapter 14 by MastersEvil MastersEvil

Will he ever figure it out?

Dumb luck strikes again

As Grace and I continued our leisurely walk through the city, a disheveled beggar approached us, his eyes filled with desperation. "Please, could you spare some change?" he asked, holding out a worn, trembling hand.

I felt a pang of sympathy for the man but hesitated, unsure of what to do. Without intending to use the ring, I responded, "Can you really ask people for money nowhere else?"

To my surprise, the beggar's eyes widened, and his expression changed from one of despair to one of contemplation. "You're right," he said, his voice filled with newfound determination. "I haven't tried that area yet, and maybe my luck will change there. Thank you for the suggestion, I'll head there right now." With that, the beggar turned and walked away, leaving Grace and me to continue our stroll.

Grace watched the beggar leave, a hint of curiosity in her eyes. "That was a bit odd," she remarked. "One moment, he seemed so insistent on asking us for money, and then changed his mind completely."

I shrugged, trying to appear nonchalant while masking my own surprise at the ring's sudden activation. "Maybe he just needed a different perspective," I replied, attempting to steer the conversation away from the mysterious influence of the ring.

As we continued our walk, my mind raced with the implications of what had just happened. It seemed that the ring's power was not as unpredictable as I had thought. By phrasing my suggestion in the form of a question, I had unintentionally activated the ring's influence. The beggar had accepted my suggestion as his own idea and had not attributed his change of heart to me.

What's next?
