Drinks with a friend

Like most weekends, Spencer took the time to sleep in. This time he managed to make it to the afternoon before finally getting up. It wasn't a big deal. Amy was at an age where she could take care of herself, and he didn't have any obligations. After a shower, he ate some leftover dinner that Amy was unlikely to touch. After the meal, his phone rings.

"Hello?"

"Hey, it's Matt." The voice was of one of Spencer's friends from college, who ended up in Canada.

"Oh, hey Matt. It's been a while."

"It has. Say, I'm going to be heading to New York City next week, and I've decided to take off early. Would you want to catch up over drinks?"

"Yeah, sure. I'd love to catch up."

"Tonight? Sorry, I know this is sudden and all."

"No no, it's fine. I understand. What time?"

"7:30?"

"Sure. McClaren's?"

"Yeah."

"See you then."

Spencer's Uber pulled up in front of McClaren's Tavern. Having stood in place since 1875, McClaren's had been a staple of the community that is a common meeting place. Like most weekends, the bar was well populated, including Matt. With his athletic build and blonde hair and beard, some might mistake him for a viking, which contrasted against the sharp way he dressed.

"Hey, just in time to buy another round." Matt finished off his beer.

"Hey Matt." The two shake hands before Spencer sits down and orders two more beers. The two catch up on the things that have been happening in their lives, from Matt's divorce to Spencer's renovations, to how their children were doing at school. After another round of beers, Matt got into some wild story about a business deal gone sour. He made it about halfway when Cindy interrupted him."Hey Spencer."

The two turned to see Cindy and Ashley. Cindy wore a short black dress that hugged her figure whilst Ashley was more conservatively dressed in jeans and a bulky turtleneck.

"Hey Cindy."

"Who's this?"

"Oh, this is Matt."

"Hey girls." Matt's face lit up, just like it did back in college when he was on the prowl for young co-eds.

"So this here is Cindy, and this is Ashley."

"Pleasure to meet you." Cindy gave Matt a kiss on the cheek.
