Chapter 18 by Zebra Zebra

So, the first victory on the battlefield was not easy. But what will happen to Prince Jason next?

Dream quest...

Prince Jason awoke in a grand outdoor pavilion, soaring marble columns surround the bed on which you lay.

These columns are entwined with vines of some plant. The Prince is unsurprised to notice that even the marble of the bed is covered with moss in many places.

Slowly he sits up feeling absolutely no pain, in fact he have never felt better in his life almost intoxicated in fact. Climbing off the bed the Prince look around, aside from this grand structure he was standing in there is nothing but rolling hills and forest.

A dense, boundless forest… A few marble buildings that look abandoned… He do not notice the slightest sign of any presence of settlements of intelligent creatures in the area… Only the rustling of leaves, the chirping of grasshoppers, the squeal of flying birds… Occasionally a howl and roar reaches your ears… Probably Large animals live in this dense forest… But fortunately for the Prince, these animals are far from him… Now…

Jason felt almost pulling in a southerly direction, walking past the columns he stepped out onto a deck of sorts. Ahead of him there is a small red fox sitting on a rock, he seems to be addressing a group of animals that are assembled before him. Jason can just make out his words of dismissal, and watched as the animals all amble off. Turning its head the fox looks back at him, and then as Jason watched it grows into a sleek slender fox man. "Ahaha you're sleep at last…" The fox laughed bounding off the rock and then up the marble steps onto the landing with his son. "You had me scared there for a moment… I don't like the thought of one of my son's harmed." He chuckles slowly walking up to you, as it dawns on you who this creature was.

"Father." The Prince bowed gracefully, as the grinning Fox watched with obvious amusement. Renard the Fox, a deity and your father, approached you with a sly grin. He chuckled, his voice low and rumbling like distant thunder. "Ah, my boy, I'm glad to see you well rested. The healing waters of Avalon work their magic, as promised."

Renard's fur shimmers in the dappled sunlight filtering through the canopy. His tail swishes behind him, the tip flicking playfully. He reaches out and places a paw under your chin, tilting your face up to look at him. "But enough about that. You're here for a far more important purpose than a mere nap."

The fox god's green eyes bore into yours. "You're at that age, aren't you? That time for a young prince to come into his full power." Renard grins, sharp teeth glinting. "And to claim his destiny. But first, you have a task to complete."

He pulls back and turns towards the edge of the pavilion, gazing out over the rolling hills and forests. "There is a sacred grove to the east. Within it lies a key to unlocking your true potential." Renard turns back to you, eyes gleaming.

"Set out immediately, my son. Journey to that grove. There you will find the answers you seek." He reaches into the folds of his fur and pulls out a shimmering amulet on a silver chain. It glitters as he places it around your neck. "This will keep you safe. And guide you to the grove."

Renard leans in close, his whiskers tickling your cheek as he whispers in your ear. "Be wary on the road, young prince. Not all is as it appears." He steps back, grinning. "Now off with you."

In two worlds...
