Chapter 4
by Jizzrar
Which race shall we look into?
Draksons
Draksons are an interesting sort when it comes to Dragonkin. For one, they were the first of the lot to have a humanoid body. Second, they're the only ones to have a level of intelligence equal to their Dragon grandfathers. Their parent race, the Drakes, were very animalistic and lacking in the intelligence department, even if a lot of them are very cunning. Why the intelligence of the Dragons skipped a species generation is unknown, but what is more curious is why they took a humanoid appearance of a dragon rather than the typical quadrupedal appearance. Again, there is no way of knowing why this is the case.
This race is the main backbone of Tribunal society. They make up the majority of craftsmen, leaders, overseers, soldiers, and magi. They even possess the Soul of the Dragon, which allows them access to draconic sorcery. Draconic sorcery is equivalent to Arcane magic, despite the world's separation from the realm of Arcane, much like Hieroglyphic magic. However, instead of needing special items and glyphs, it purely relies on the soul, words, and breath of the individual who possesses the Dragon Soul. Drakes possess this soul, too, but their lack of intelligence prevents them from using the sorcery outside of elemental breath attacks. Draksons are capable of shaping their breath to form many spells with the proper words used while activating the breath. The affinity for certain elements is dependent on the scale-color of the Drakson in question, the colors they have being those of relation to a certain element or magical concept. For example, blue for water, white for ice, black for shadow, yellow for lightning; these are the more straight-forward. But then you can have things like gold which can potentially mean divine smiting, or even sun fire, silver can also potentially mean divine smiting or could be a very cleansing concept, eliminating darkness or corruption.
Forgiving the pun, but the Draksons cobble themselves together a very rigid, draconic society with a strict caste system. Luckily for most of the lower rung Draksons, majority of the lower classes have been populated by Kobold slaves, allowing Draksons to have an easier time climbing up the social ladder and become more important members of society. However, no role in Drakson society is held as highly regarded as that of the military and the clergy. Soul Sorcerers and Dragoons are given the highest of praises and given lofty lives while within the walls of the many tomb-cities that dot the landscape of Drakenhein, with Dragoon Elites and "Elder Scales" (elder Draksons who have mastered the arts of Soul Sorcery within the faith) being the rare individuals that everyone is subservient to and are the leaders of society. It is, in fact, a Dragoon Elite and an Elder Scale that make up two of the three seats of power in Tribunal leadership.
The draconic features of their society come in how they try to "fight back" against the plight of Kobold birthing. The have magical crystals that are attuned to the inner magical reservoirs within one's soul. Certain colors dictate the level of magical potential within an individual. Believing that the laying of Kobold eggs is tied to one's magical level, they use this means to detect whether or not one is most likely to lay a Kobold egg (which are indistinguishable from Drakson eggs). If one scores too lowly, then they are **** by law to be rendered infertile. However, even while being infertile, one can expect to still live a normal enough of a life, even still able to climb the social ladder if they are capable enough. This changes when another situation occurs...that being when a Kobold egg is laid. If it is discovered that a couple has hatched a Kobold, the punishment is swift. Any other eggs that have yet to hatch will be crushed, the Kobold sent to the slums, and the Drakson hatchlings put aside to a common house to then grow up to be rendered infertile. The parents who made the Kobold egg would be stripped of any rank and power, rendered infertile, and then exiled from the city. They are free to risk living out in the craggy wilds of Drakenhein, or make it to another city where they can hope to not be noticed as Kobold parents and try to live a normal life as middle-class citizens elsewhere.
The main religion of Draksons, and thus the religion of the Tribunal, is the ancestry worship of the Dragons from which all Dragonkin hail from. Though, with all the Dragons dead, it is also without saying that they worship the skeletal bodies of the dead Dragons, the most powerful and influential of which were able to have tombs dedicated to them, to preserve their remains, treasures, and powers. It is around these tombs that the cities of the Draksons are built around, cities that are used as typical cities for Draksons and their ilk to leave, defense stations to protect the tombs from exploiters, and gateways to the tombs so the Draksons can properly worship their dead gods. With their fascination for ****, given the dead Dragons, it is unsurprising that a lot of Soul Sorcery they use is often tainted with Necromantic influence. It is illegal to try and tamper with the corpses of the Dragons, and goes without saying that those of high value in society are also off the table for resurrection or enslavement purposes. But Kobolds and lowborn Draksons? They are free game to turn into undead servants of some capacity. Though, much like their affinity for using Soul Sorcery to be like Arcane, their ability to use Necromancy doesn't require them to use Phylacteries. However, because of this, it is unknown if they are capable of becoming Liches. And from what we can tell, even a potent Elder Scale doesn't seem quite capable when compared to some of the magic users here on Aesyr...one can think it might be due to their Dragon Souls being weaker or more faded when compared to what their ancestors might have had.
All we know of Draksons and the society of the Tribunal at all is due to the efforts of explorers who somehow survive the landscape of Drakenhein and the sea-based threats around both landmasses. The Draksons themselves head many excursions to the shores of Aesyr, fighting passed sea monsters, pirates, Confederacy navy, the anti-ship roots of the World Tree, the hazards of the Badlands, Dark Elf ships, and the harsh fighters within the Steppes and Dune Seas. Not many Draksons and their ilk have been captured, as they are all too often prepared to commit suicide in ways that wipe out their possessions as well or are quick to escape capture. The knowledge of these people is only known to those well-versed in education and study, and those within the political know-how to come across the knowledge of those who have experience with these alien threats.

Conflicts of Divine Interest
When Pantheons Misbehave
The world of Aesyr is a world of divinity and conflict. Three sides with their own believes collide in battles of war and political intrigue. But one thing is consistent...the ever evolving pantheon. The gods switch out their own rulers in a cosmic lottery. This year, it just so happens to have all the gods and goddesses of lust and conquest to be victorious.
