Dragon’s date

Naturally, dinner is your first destination. It was quite the task to find a restaurant that had both the level of quality you were looking for while also having the portion sizes that the ravenous dragon girl demands. You did find one, however, an upscale steakhouse known for its generous and delicious cuts of meat. Walking in with Kenna on your arm, the hostess does a double take at the sight of you. Or rather, at the sight of Kenna, if you’re being honest.

As you’re led to the table, you can hear people fall silent as she passes. Tall and strong, and very obviously what she is, Kenna generally draws attention regardless. Tonight, however, in that incredible dress matching her mane of red hair, it’s impossible not to notice her. Thankfully, the stares she’s receiving tonight seem to be awe, rather than disgust. Kenna’s smile is radiant, and she’s carrying herself like a queen. You pull out her chair for her, and she kisses your cheek as she sits.

Once you’re both seated, it’s not long before food begins to arrive. This place is exorbitantly expensive, but it’s worth it to see Kenna so happy. Despite her regal bearing on the way in, she’s her usual self once the food arrives. You share some good conversation between courses, and her rich laughter fills the air and warms your heart. Even while eating, Kenna makes things interesting, often leaning across the table to steal bits of food from your plate. Each time she does, you’re treated to a view down her impressive cleavage. The wink she gives you tells you that it’s completely intentional.

Once you finish eating, Kenna once again stops conversation dead on the way out, although this time you hear whispers as she passes. You can’t make out what’s being said, so you decide to assume it’s all complimentary. After all, just look at her!

Dinner was wonderful, but the big plan for tonight is the theater. There’s a play running in the city, and it’s so apt for this evening that it feels like it was created just for you. Leading Kenna in, she once again gets odd looks, though unlike at the restaurant, you can see that some people are looking with disdain rather than awe. Kenna doesn’t seem to notice, her eyes on the billboard proclaiming the title of the play.

I Am Dragon, it says, in flowing script. Kenna looks at you curiously, but you just smile. You lead her to the seats, and soon the play begins.

The story unrolls, from the perspective of a young noblewoman, preparing for an arranged marriage. It’s very clear she isn’t interested, but customs demand that she follow through. She spends a lot of time wandering the woods, enjoying her solitude, and it’s there she meets a handsome young man, seemingly doing much the same. As the play progresses, they spend more and more time together, quickly growing closer.

Eventually, she realizes that she’s falling in love, but at the same time, she is promised to another. Distraught, she confesses both her love, and her situation to the young man. Hesitantly, he says he can offer a solution, though she may not like what he reveals. At her insistence, he reveals his secret to her; he is actually a dragon. In an attempt to salve his solitary existence, he has taken to human form, and thus he met her. In shock and horror, the young woman flees, leaving the dragon alone once more.

The next few scenes lead up to her wedding, and we find her looking wistfully out of windows, seemingly staring into the woods. On the day of the wedding, she is nowhere to be found. Her husband to be declares that the local dragon must have snatched her, and gathers people to join him in slaying the beast. However, upon reaching the lair, they find the young woman, embracing the dragon, in human form. She has overcome her fears, and truly loves him, despite everything. The play ends with them fleeing the scene, hunted but happy.

Kenna is ecstatic. As the final curtain falls, she is immediately standing and applauding. She looks at you with wonder in her eyes. “How is it possible that this play exists? That was amazing!”

You chuckle. “Sometimes the stars just align. Now, we have one more thing to do, tonight.”

Kenna smiles, taking your arm once again. “Lead the way, my perfect mate!”

You lead her outside, both of you too absorbed in each other to pay attention to the looks you’re getting. Instead of heading to the car, however, you take her across the street, where there’s a beautiful park, which is more of a flower garden than anything. It’s late, but the lights give plenty of illumination as you lead Kenna to the fountain in the center of the park. Reaching into your pocket, you pull out Kenna’s ring.

She gasps as she sees it. The golden band is engraved with delicate scales, and the diamond is set between two square cut rubies. You start to speak, to ask the all important question, but Kenna interrupts you.

“You know, I always thought that this was a silly human tradition. An over complication of something simple. But…tonight. The play, the dinner, this place. I understand. And you don’t even need to ask, my mate. Yes. I am yours, and you are mine. Forever.”

No more words need to be said. You slip the ring on her finger, and she simply stares for a while. You’re amazed to see tears well up in her eyes, one running down her cheek. Suddenly, she embraces you, her strength crushing you against her breasts. After a moment where you’re about to happily suffocate, she releases you. Kenna is once again radiant, her smile lighting up the night. She takes your arm once more, and grins as she speaks.
