Dr. Konovalov Arrives to Help

Steve's POV

Steve watched in disbelief as Maria left the appartment. How could she just leave him there without any concrete answer? That was unlike her, she was an honest and straightforward person, sometimes even saying things too directly. But now, she started dodging conversations and her brief explanations lacked any persuasion. Was she really cheating on him? And she must have taken ****, her appearance and behaviour changed too dramatically to be caused by some illness. He was filled with confusion and anger, regretting he didn't follow her when he she had left. He was thinking of a way to get to the bottom of this, deciding that calling Rachel might be a good idea, since she was with her the night her weird behaviour begun.

When he took the phone in hand there was a knock on the door. A tall, weird looking guy was standing in front of him, looking at him with a polite smile and determined expression. "Good evening, I'm doctor Konovalov, is Miss Messina at home?" he introduced himself.

"I...umm, no, she's not home. Why are you here, if I can ask?" Steve asked, surprised by this visit.

"Oh, I'm terribly sorry, I assumed you were aware I'm Miss Messina's psychiatrist. I was contacted by her earlier when she informed me of her current issues so we agreed I would come here and examine her. When do you expect her to return, if I might ask?" he responded.

Although this doctor sounded convincing, something was not right here, Steve thought. Since when do psychiatrist do home visits, so late in the evening? On the other hand, maybe this guy has some answers? Steve inquired, "oh, ok, I understand...I'm not sure when she's returning but I could give her a call. My name is Steve, by the way, I'm her boyfriend."

"I see, she mentioned you. Well, to be honest, I think I should share some information with you regarding her mental issues since you are likely to assist in aiding her. Mind if I come inside?" asked the mysterious doctor.

"Yes, of course, please come inside." Steven hurriedly agreed, wondering if this man really had useful answers.

As it turned out, his visit itself was an answer. At the moment Steve turned his back on the visitor, with enormous power an arm grabbed him from behind, while a needle was injected into his neck. He tried to scream but hand suddenly covered his mouth. Steve struggle but this mans grip was way too strong. Like someone turned off a switch his strength was gone, collapsing to ground, falling ****.

When he opened his eyes, a dark figure was above him. Steve was sitting in a chair, his arms and legs tied. He wanted to say something but his mouth and tongue never moved. Panic hit him, trying to break free but his limbs were not responding either. All he could do was watch and drool. This asshole placed him near the window, behind the curtain.

"I'm sorry for this but your presence here will help us greatly. I have to applaud your taste in women though, Maria is an amazing woman, as you already know. You will see for yourself what she is capable of. I think you will see just enough through the curtain, right? I wanted to store you in the bathroom but that wouldn't be fair, would it? After all, you are her boyfriend." asshole laughed cruelly. "Oh, and don't bother trying to break free, a paralytic in your system will prevent you from doing anything for a couple of hours or so. Enjoy the view, Steve."

With that, he drew the curtain, leaving him in darkness. In contrast to his body, his mind was racing with questions. Who is this psycho? Is this the guy Maria was cheating with? How could she fall for this lunatic? Did he **** her as well? What was he trying to accomplish with this? So many questions...

He saw the guy typing something on Steve's phone, smiling wickedly. Fuck, this not going to end well...
