Down the rabbit hole

Glaze was sat at the controls, eyes locked on the main window.

The ship began to slow.

"We're 'bout to land," Tank cheerfully said.

"Where are we going?" I asked.

Glaze pointed out the window, "Earth-1865!"

It looked exactly like Earth-1218.

The ship's engine began to rev up as Glaze tried to angle it onto the glassy field. Finally, the ship gave one last quake as it landed, and the engine turned off.

Glaze and Tank stepped out the Great Fox, with me following closely behind, and taking a look around. Cricket was going to stay behind. The place seemed perfectly ordinary. In fact, it looked almost mundane.

The first thing we saw was a white rabbit, dressed in a red waistcoat with a pair spectacles perched upon his nose speed by, as it kept one eye on a ticking pocket watch it carried in its hand. It was the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland.

“Oh, my fur and whiskers!” The rabbit cried, “I’m late, I’m late, I’m late!”

We stared at the rabbit blankly, before following in pursuit.

"Aw, fellas?" Tank coughed behind us, "Maybe we shoulda come up with some sorta plan before following that rabbit?"

"Why?" I asked, turning back from my intended pursuit.

"I'll know when to turn back if it gets dangerous!" Glaze insisted.

I nodded, turning back, "Yeah! Besides Alice in Wonderland is a children's story! We'll definitely be just fine!"

I could see the hesitation in Tank. I also knew I felt the same way. Is this the right way to go?

The rabbit fled ran through a cave-like hole gaped open at the base of a tree.

Tank leaned down, trying to see there the hole led to, before falling into it. I tried to grab hold of her, but fell down along side her.

Glaze jumped down the hole after us, "Wait for me!"
