Chapter 9

Which bad guy?
Double trouble
There are benefits to being a seer. Even if your future sight could be distorted and hard to comprehend. Still the world ending was hard to misunderstand. Reality falling apart at the seams tends to be unambiguous.
Some would consider the vision horrible. Drusilla considered it enlightening. Being a powerful psychic she could see that between the bloodshed and carnage there was magic at work. Reality altering magic. Warping and changing, shifting the very nature of the world from good to bad to good to... and on and on it went. And amidst reality changing there was going to be a portal. A world that was solid and true lay on the otherside of that portal, a world that was not in danger of winking out of existence.
An escape hatch from this dying world was waiting for her. All she had to do was be in the right place at the right time and she would be saved.
It hadnt taken much effort to be where she needed to be. She spent most of her time being unobserved. Waiting. Drusilla sat out the fighting that heralded the start of the end. When the moment finally arrived she sprang from hiding, knocked aside a red headed vampiress that might normally be taken by this portal, and was transported to another world.
A safe world.
Looking around the abandoned warehouse she was in Drusilla let out a much unneeded breath. Safe. Her vision had been correct, the stars had seen her safely to her new home. She did faintly miss the carnage she had left. There had been a delectable amount of blood in the air back in her old world as the humans fought to stay alive in that worlds warehouse.
The clicking of heels on cement derailed any pleasant memories. Drusilla didnt immediately let her demon show but she did prepare for some kind of voilent encounter. Her vision hadn't included any warning about her reception being hostile. Drusilla stared when the source of the footsteps stepped into the light.
"Hello." Drusilla said.
"Hello." Drusilla replied.
Drusilla stared at Drusilla. A visitor from another world meeting her native counterpart.
"The stars didnt mention anything about this." Drusilla tilted her head as she viewed the native Drusilla dressed in red.
"They mentioned it to me." Drusilla of this world answered. She raised her arms and turned in circle showing off her dress of red velvet and a very familiar long black trench coat. "I dressed accordingly."
Drusilla looked at the coat and raised an eyebrow.
Native Drusilla let a small frown flit across her face, "The Slayer. My Spike lost himself to the Slayer. He's not mine anymore. He still walks and talks and thinks he's mine..." Drusilla shook her head, "But he's hers now. She's all up in his head where we used to be."
Drusilla looked at the other her with pity. She looked around at the empty warehouse that they were in. She had abandoned her Spike without a second thought. Her vision had shown her what she needed to do to survive and she had not looked back.
"Terrible to be alone." Native Drusilla mused her attention wandering to to various futures and fates that they could both see. "Thats why the stars told me you were coming Miss Edith. That we needed one another to survive in this very different world."
"Miss Edith...." Drusilla considered what the native version of herself was offering. And then there was what she could discern from her counterpart. The native Drusilla was weaker, physically and mentally. Like she had been shattered and badly put back together haphazardly. But on the other hand a native guide would be a blessing and a another set of eyes to see the future was no small thing.
"Edith..." She looked at her black dress and then at the native Drusilla who was wearing red, the normal color Miss Edith would wear.
"This is my world. I will not be releasing hold of my name." Native Drusilla stated coldly.
"Edith will do. I suppose." The newly named Edith allowed with a bow of her head.
"Wonderful." Drusilla smiled. "I have such sights to show you. "
"I find myself rather peckish. Do you have anything planned for dinner" Edith inquired.
Drusilla ignored the other her as she raised a finger to her lips and chewed on the nail. "I do have a kitten I rather like. He would make a proper monster." She smiled as her eyes went glassy and out of focus, seeing things that werent there. "You knew of him, I believe. Alexander of Sunnydale another of Darla's surprisingly gifted children."
Miss Edith blinked and a slow grin spread across her face. She had observed that particular vampire while she waited. He was quite vicious and also a talented and supportive lover of his red headed vampiress. Surprisingly creative, that one, when it came to torturing his victims... or his red headed vampiress. He had a better innate understanding of pleasure and pain then Spike had had after a century of experience torturing people. "Oh yes. Quite talented, that one."
"What games we can play with Kitten." Drusilla giggled. "I do wonder what he will become if we both sire him?"
"He's still human?" Miss Edith asked in surprise.
Drusilla nodded her head.
Miss Edith blinked and then laughed, "Oh my... so many games we can play with your Kitten."
